Hello
My room (actually my whole flat) is constantly dusty. Recently, I've developed a cough at night and in the mornings, wonder if its related to the dust... I'm generally not allegic to dust etc.. but having second thoughts now.
Maybe its the air con - is there something I can do? Need some practical general advice.
Thanking you in advance...
Really finding it hard to live in HK! I get sick often - mainly food poisoning..

Get an air filter for your rooms and get your AC unit cleaned as well. Wash your bedding thoroughly as well as the furniture.

Betwoi,
I was quite bothered by the dust and mites that are around the apartment. I solved the problem by buying a really expensive vacuum made in Germany. It has helped a lot - dust gets trapped in mattresses, sofas, pillows - the vacuum can handle all this. If you would like the salesperson details, please send me a pm.

Dustmite allergy, develops suddenly.
They are 2 types of dustmites (you won't know until you are checked - i'm allergic to both) one eating skin debris and one eating flour (i.e. bread) debris.
Make sure you wash often all bedding at 60°) and do not eat bread in your bed.
DOn't use a vacuum unless it's a special one: use moist clothes to clean (in that order) the walls, the head rest, the sides of your beds (and under it as well) and the floor.
Do the bed sides regularly.
Avoid anything that might trap dust (i.e. carpets, push sofas, etc., wash curtains regularly)
Also get rid of feather duvet & pillow (especially the pillow) and replace them by synthtetic washable ones.
Also, wash your hair frequently, especially if they are long and attract invisible dust.
Open your windows, fight heat & humidity which acarians love.
Go to the mountain (acarians usually disappear above 1500 m) and outside to the fresh air on WE.
