Blemish Control Problem

I have blemishes caused by acne in my teenage years. Most of the persistent blemishes have disappeared but some are very persistant.

Can anyone recommend a solution that has been known to be effective? Most products I have tried have promised visible results after a few weeks but nothing has been able to help. I am tired of using foundations to cover up the blemishes and I need something that wont take years to take effect.

I too suffer from acne scars and consulted a dermatologist who put me on microdermabrassion and glycolic peels..both expensive treatments. After around 8 sessions there was some noticeable improvement in my skin but my the scars did not go. I was advised to continue the treatment but no one could really tell me for how long so I discontinued. I realised that the scars became noticeable once more which means the treatment doesnt really work on deep scars and the treatment requires life long maintenance which is ridiculous. So I thought I would settle for laser treatment and the doctor told me that the treatment would probably take two sessions costing double the amount!!! In addition you cannot go out in the sun for like two weeks and will have ugly dark scabs which will peel off after healing. I read up some facts on laser treatment and realised that I could end up with pigmented skin in the area exposed to the treatment and decided against it. I too seem to have exhausted my options but I heard rose hip oil is suppossed to help. Have you tried that? Also Aloe vera is good for the skin. I see innumerable ads on TV advertising Chinese products which claim to remove old burn marks, acne marks and stretch marks but I wonder if any of them really work. I hope someone can help with this problem until then foundation is our best friend!!!

Hi,

Although I do not have any acne scarring on my skin, I recently underwent surgery (the incision line was made on the thin skin on the top of my feet). I really did not want to have any scars due to wearing open shoes and whatnot. I bought this product called dermatix, extremely expensive for a tiny tube but supposed to be the same thing that plastic surgeons use. Well it worked very well and although there is a slight scar its nothing compared to without it and thats after 12 weeks of twice a day (not missing a treatment) use.

I do not know the nature of your scars, wether they are sunken in or higher then the surface of your skin...but all I know is that this product helped me out.

Perhaps a plastic surgeon (instead of a dermatologist) can give you some advice as to which direction to take.
