Oral typhoid vaccine in Guangzhou

I've been looking for the typhoid vaccine in oral form but have had no luck in any of the hospitals/clinics so far. I'm willing to go for the injection if absolutely required, but most places will charge about 300-500rmb for a consultation and another 450rmb for the vaccine.


Has anyone had any experience with the oral vaccine, or a clinic that will not charge an initial consultation fee?

Just updating this thread - it seems that the oral vaccine is indeed very hard to find in Guangzhou. I ended up trying the Guangzhou United Family Clinic, and its standard of service was very impressive.


I was very wary of any needles here in China, but their procedure put my mind at ease. They show you the packaging, brand and vaccination name, along with the needle sealed in a sterilized wrap. New gloves are used before they begin the process, and changed when it was time for my girlfriend's injection.


Costs were:

Vaccination - 425HKD (dont know why they charged this in HKD)

Injection fee - 85RMB

Shipping - 100HKD


One thing I wasnt very happy with was the shipping fee as they did not disclose this charge beforehand and it should have been included with the price of the vaccination. IMHO 100RMB for shipping is ridiculous.


Overall a extremely clean clinic with a western standard of hygiene.

typhoid oral vaccine is not often used any more so not surprised you could not get it ; same for oral polio; efficacy and safety issues
