We've been trying for a baby for over half a year now but to no avail....can anyone recommend a good doctor to see about this. I've been to vivienne Shu in Causeway Bay but she costs a bomb! Thanks!

Infertility treatment is expensive - no matter where you go and few qualify for the government programmes. If you would like more details on doctors feel free to call me on 28490328.

Have to tried seeing a naturopath. Dr. Lynn Lim treats infertility patients with natural treatment. I have seen many patients getting pregnant after the treatments. Her consultation is $800 for the first consultation, which will be an hour long and then the follow ups would be $500 for 30 mins, which are usually every 1 month and she also prescribes herbal supplements for preconception care. For more information, please check www.bodycentralhk.com
Better go natural if you are trying to conceive.

Do not put pressure to yourself. Calm down. My gynae and OBS doctor have this service. First consultation is about HK$400-500, clinic located in Yaumatei. Good Luck

Hi Sky,
How about for the next consultation, how much do they charge? Thanks.
Are there any website/forum where Hongkong IVF ladies chat?

I think you should phone his office and ask. no. is 2522 0691. I am not doing IVF yet so not sure. But he does have packages. If I start injections his consultation fees would be HK$1,500 per cycle not per consultation.

Thanks sky, actually, i'm not yet in Hk, i will go there this month to look for an apartment. Once settled in July, i will start IVF cycle. Package sounds better for me than consultation basis. We'll see...thanks for your help. Now, i have to look for an apartment that is near Central, any tips? i want something that is NEW, around 1 year old only. Sorry for asking too much, don't know where to ask.

I think the more popular areas are Mid-levels (above Central), Discovery Bay (have to take ferry) or new developments above the MTR stations like Kowloon Station or Olympic Station.

thanks helenann for your support...i suppose it's trying to beat the clock for unnecessary complications...also, i know it's stupid of me to think this way but it's hard when literally every friend around me is has had a first baby...feel a bit pressured

With respect to Helenann as you are concerned maybe a few basic tests will help you probably like Helenann said have nothing to worry about but your own high expectations. Just go for the sperm count and to check your ovulation. Not too intrusive.

Volunteer to look after babies - during the day (a double win!) at Mothers Choice - an organisation caring for babies waiting for adoption etc.
So many ladies I know fell pregnant just after adopting a baby - maybe hanging out with babies gets those old hormones racing....just a thought.

Ooh i can't do that i know people in my situation that can embrace it but thats just too in my face, makes me realise even more what i don't have. I really admire you if you can do that.

Took me a year to get preggers. When I did, I realised I got the ovulation dates for once & it worked!!
Like many say, 1/2 year is too quick to start worrying. Give yourself more time. Dont worry about your Biological clock, just relax, go with the flow.... All the best:)

Spare rib hk....thanks for your encouragement...I've decided to take it easy and it's comforting to know that there are others like me who are trying or have tried for a period of time. It's just that it seems so easy for those around me...or maybe I don't know what really went on coz nobody here really talks about these things

There's nothing wrong with taking a few basic tests. Nothing wrong with taking it easy either. Good Luck Sonia926

Sonia926, If I were you, I would check up ' ovulating dates' on google & then get your chart ready. It is very easy & straightforward to do.
You can also visit your GYN to get your dates, etc. I say a GYN, not because anything is wrong, but for you to figure out your ovulating dates. Keep us updated :)

As everyone is pointing out, a half a year of trying is not very long at all. Before you consider medical intervention you may want to try charting your temperature to pin point when you ovulate. You can get information on doing this on the web or discuss with your gyn. I have two good friends, ages 36 and 38, who did this and conceived within a few months of using this method. Both have recently given birth to healthy babies.
