I got help from my GP, it is under control, and I am not bothered by it again.

Apparently it is inherited through the family, and you live with it, like my sister got it too but not my other family memebers. But it is certainly can be in control. Stress/Change of weather or humidity will arouse it.

Nutrients supplement like Evening Primose is good.

Wearing cotton / natural fiber clothing (especially when it comes to contact to your skin).

Keeping your skin clean& dry is important too.

I use the most basic cream twice a day (morning & night), it is from Australia, a brand called "Orion" but surely you can find other similar. It is nothing fancy, the ingrendients is simply the base cream (as all the fancy cream built on), I will try to get more information on that one later.

Above is what my "daily" thing. If for whatever reason, it get worse, like the itchy, rash appears, I got to my doctor for some prescription, then that is.

Not sure what extent are your case. Hope above helps. Normal GP can take care, I did visit the specialist before but only got quick fix, only sorted after I met my new GP now.

Aqueous Cream - that is !

I have use Australia made in the past.

Apparently you get UK made too.

Best, it is unbelievably inexpensive & effective. So gentle to your skin, even for baby.

If it is this bad, best to see a doctor to get medically active creams. It is unlikely that over the counter medications will do.

I had it when i was about to get married (stress) and I tried stuff from the doctor, the only thing that helped with was using Simple moisturiser and no make up on affected area. Make sure you don't put anything purfumed on it.

I use E45 cream for when my skin is really dry, E45 lotion otherwise. For flare-ups I use 1% hydrocortison cream which you can purchase at pharmacies without prescription.

try a Naturopathic Doctor. I know there a tons of them in Singapore. I've seen alot of patients from newborns to elderly getting all smooth skin after seeing the naturopath at our clinic here in Hong Kong. If you want I can ask her to recommend somebody in Singapore. She herself is from Malaysia

I am an postgraduate in chinese and western medicine, my major is not in dermatology though, but i had handeled the same case before, we call it scalling disorder/atopic dermatitis. what you mean is there is pruritic, exudative and or lichenied eruption.

what you must do is first:

1.undergo the blinded food challanges, to diagnose the suspected food alergy. dairy products and wheat are common offenders.

2. since you have hyperirritable skin, avoid bathing more than one time a day, especially in winter. make sure your soap is well confined to armpits, groin and feets, use it only before rinsing and ending the bath. use soap with brand dove, eucerin, and other cleanser like cetaphil could be recommended. your skin should be patted dried and not rubbed dried. before it dries completely use emollient like aquaphor, eucerine, vaseline, or coticosteroid as needed.avoid very heat bathing. and if oilments exacerbate the symptoms, use cream instead.

3. use cloths made from pure cotton or synthetic blend.

4. use mild coticosteroids first like aclovate, desonide, triamnicolone 0,1%. usually it will work, if not use higher dosage like tacrolimus ointment(protropic)in 0.03-0.1%.

5. when the lesions are dried, still red and pruritic, use mild to moderate corticosteroids, do not stop or it will come back . til the scalling and elevated skin is clear. from this time, begin the taper for 2-4 weeks twice daily. tacrolimus must be administered this time.

6. if you have chronic, dried and lichenied lesions, than it is not easy to deal with. i beleive high potency corticosteroids may do some good job, i mean prednisone in 10 mg once a day. avoid it if you have renal, liver, anemia, and gastroentorology problems, use the predisone cream. tar preparations like LCD(liquid carbonic detergents)5% or 2% crude coal tar(MG-217) may also help too.

7. in my hosptial, the chinese herbal ointment or prescribed herbs is boiled and smoothly rubbed to the lesions part. I saw it helped in psoriasis. i think it would help you too. but badly the prescription must be administered after the chinese medicine docter diganosed you in person.

i think this is a very complete guideline for you. good luck.

by the way, I am an indonesian that working in a hosptial here. if you have any further question send me email to jiashenmao@hotmail.com.
