I've gotten three seperate opinions. All three the same. Ankle lateral ligament reconstruction. However, they've all advised at best, a 50% chance of success. if it does not work, it's a full ankle joint replacement.

I had it done earlier this year aussieinhk. Dr Jason Brockwell did it. Recovery depends on the severity of the injury and how much reconstruction needs doing. It also depends on whether the peroneal tendons are used in the proceedure. I was in a plaster cast and on crutches but full weight baring for around 5 weeks and then a couple of days on the crutches after the cast came off and then normal walking. It took about two weeks before the limp went completley. You will need phsyio afterwards. Every surgery is different of course and you cant tell what the outcome will be, but I would rather take the 50/50 chance it works - if you need the joint replacement later all well and good but I would suggest it is worth a try. It worked for me and I have very little problem with the joint now.
