I guess I am a little naieve about these things but I have signed up for 12months travel insurance with the top of range medical cover for both dental medical and hospital. Will this be sufficient for my stay in Hong Kong while I work here?

I will be in HK for 18months and will have an id card etc. The policy says I am covered if I get sick, tooth ache etc. I just hope it is enough. The last thing I want is a giant medical bill while I am there.

Thankyou for your advice I will do some further investigation of the situation when I get to HK. If I need more cover, which firm offers the best deal?

Thankyou so very much for all your help everybody. I am very grateful. The policy says unlimited emergency medical and dental as well as the usual travel stuff(theft, delays, etc.) What does it cost for a routine a doctor's visit for a script in HK and is it worth taking out a policy to cover these costs?

Thankyou, that gives me an idea of what I am up for. I, like you, are relatively healthy and I think I will opt to gamble and just use the travel insurance. Unfortunately, I'm a NET, working in the eductation sector. Someone on a lower rung of the financial ladder, hense my concern. If I had a lucrative package none of this would be an issue.

If you have a HKID, you are covered under the public system, which nearly 98% of the population uses. The care is not less than standard by any means but the pampering aspects of the private industry are not included in the low cost.
