Been having slipped disc since January this year. Undergone 10 sessions of manipulative physio, no avail.Curently consulting an orthopadist & prescribed inflammation tablets. Like to hear from anyone who has been treated or had slipped disc for advise. How long is the healing....etc.

Had slipped disc in 2003--hairline crack on my disc, affecting L4-L5 and S1, with pain radiating through my left leg down to the ankle.
Within a month, I underwent 12 sessions of rehab therapy (tens, traction machine, hot compress)+ meds, no permament results unfortunately.
Went to a chiropractor and had a combination of spinal adjustments, myotherapy, spinal injections of lidocaine/steroids (and a session of the Alexander technique) for 4 weeks. On my 5th week, I was back on my feet.
I still get low back pains once in a while, but having regular spinal adjustment with my chiro does the trick. I also have to mindful at all times of proper posture, especialy when working out or carrying out daily activities (lifting heavy objects, getting out of bed, etc).
Hope this helps.

Hi Karen, my hubby has had 3 ruptured discs. Two healed with TLC. One required surgery. Physical therapy caused the damage that ended up requiring surgery. This was ten years ago so treatments have probably changed some since then, but feel free to send me pm if you want to know more about our experiences.
