I exchanged my Hk driving licence for a Uk licence and now i am back in Hk and want to drive. Does anyone know if i can just reapply for a new Hk licence even though i had to give it up to receive my uk licence? All help appreceiated

if u still have your UK license you can just do a direct transfer. No problem.

But i want to keep my british licence also as i am in the uk 6 months of the year and in Hk the other 6 and have permanent residency/citizenship of both. Is it possible to have both? thanks

Technically you can't have both...I have a friend who was asked to surrender their HK licence when they applied for a British licence by the DVLA. If it's the other way around they don't.

I had to surrender my VIC Australian licence to get my uk licence when we were living there. In hindsight I should have got a HK licence and surrendered that one because now if I want to move back to OZ I have to re-sit my written test AND road test!!

If you continue to have an active licence in the country where you reside and your original licence expires you DO NOT have to resit the exam in the country you originally got your licence. You only need to resit if you have not held a current licence for more than 2 years. You also do not need to surender a forign license in HK when you apply for a HK licence.

i am from the uk, i live in hk and have both a hk licence and a uk licence, im not resident in the uk, so should not use the uk one, but am going there at xmas this year, how does it stand in renting a car at the airport on arrival with my hk driving licence? do i still need an international driving permit?

np. done it loads of times. Just hand over your hk driving licence when you fill out the forms
