I just bought a new RCA dual vhs to dvd machine which works fine for my own tapes from tv. My problem is when copying movie vhs (about 30 of them) which won't copy (pops up with "video is copy protected".
Any way of getting around this? Some of these tapes are 10-12 years old and i'm afraid they may get outdated and break the tapes.
Thanks in advance for any help.

HI,
It has nothing to do with cables, your cables are fine, I understand the VHS you are trying to copy are movies/TV drama ( not home Videos ) which you purchase from the shop. This is done to protect copying, but there is a simple mechanism, you just compare your home VHS and cassette with your other movie , there is a small plastic square part which will be missing, Now to copy you have to just cover that area with a Scotch ( cello) tape, and you can copy easily, Good luck

You will need a DVD Recorder, and, Grex to transfer your VHS media to DVD.The copy protection I speak of is the macrovision that is causing you not to be able to get good copies of the VCR tapes.I bought a GREX (macrovision remover) for the same purpose http://www.xdimax.com/grex/grex.html
