Does your child have a learning difference? My son has ADD and is finding it difficult in the traditional HK classroom. I have found a boarding school in Nova Scotia, Canada. The headmaster is coming to HK next month to talk about the school. I just want to share the info if other parents are also looking for alternative schooling. The free information talks are in Discovery Bay March 15 @ 9:30AM and March 17 @ 7:30PM and in Central March 15 @ 2:00PM March 17 @ 10AM.

Last year my son was so frustrated with not being able to complete his school work - even though he knew the material - He gave up and was basically take up space in the class. This year he is enjoying the small class size and has found the love of learning again. This school has been so good for him. The first of 5 info talks is tonight @ 7:30 in Central. I want to encourage other parents of LD children to keep looking for answers to find the right fit for your child. I am not saying this is it, but it might lead to something else that could be great for you and your child.

No need to send a young boy to boarding school so far away! There is an excellent school in Kennedy Town, The Harbour School which caters to children with learning difficulties as well. Great school, small classes, excellent staff, individual attention and help. Give them a call before sending your boy abroad, please!

My son is 16. I don't know if the Harbour School has classes for his age group. He is at Landmark East now and is doing very well. I am happy with our decision. Thank you for letting me know about The Harbour School. If my son was younger I would have looked at Hong Kong options for him but when I was looking, over the previous two school years, I was not able to find a school in Hong Kong for my son's age and his learning difficulty. I am glad the Harbour School is available for younger students who need assistance. It can make such a difference just to have the smaller class size - Not so many distractions and more attention from the teachers.

Bizarre how this reads like an infomercial.

I'm glad that your son is happy where he is, that said, boarding school is not for all families. Not merely for the emotional toll but the financial one as well. I doubt this school you sent him to is an easy ticket for most parents in HK.
