24 hour GP (Doctor)?

ORIGINAL POST

Hi all,

In Australia there was a facility where outside of our local GPs office hours, weekends and public holidays we could ring a number and a traveling doctor could come and visit anytime of the day or night.

Is there something like this in HK?

Thanks.

Never heard of a traveling doctor here but there's a 24-hour clinic in Causeway Bay.

They have a couple of branches all over the town.

TY MEDICAL

The doctors at the clinic we use have pagers you can call at any time. So you'll get someone on the phone. But if you or your child is really sick they would send you to the ER....

Cool, I'll talk to our doctor. Youngest one just had a high fever which broke soon after posting that message. Not ER worthy but was getting there.

I would try and avoid medical centres. Would rather go to the hospital if needed.

Thanks all.

If you live in Midlevels, we have found Canossa Hospital good for after hours outpatient.

If you hear of a doctor that will come to your home, I'd be keen to know as well.

Thanks

My experience with ER is limited but I have learned this (for both Japan and Australia, not sure for HK). If you turn up in an ambulance there is no 2 hour wait. You go straight to the ER.

Of course you have to actually be ER worthy (which the emergency operator and online doctor confirm before they dispatch an ambulance in Australia) but you can bypass all the admin headache at the counter.

hi there,

just wanted everyone to know about this uk qualified home visit doctor who came to my house last month when i suddenly had a sore throat. as i am pregnant, i didnt want to go to a clinic where i might catch something from other patients.

Got to know a Dr. Lily Wong of Doctorsdirect thru a friend. She came immediately to my house and took my blood test then gave me the proper medication which cleared up in days. I think this is the kind of medical home service we lack in hk for people who might be afraid of catching something in a clinic or for those (like me) heavily pregnant or who are just too sick to leave their bed. Dr Wong told me she grew up and worked many years as a GP in the UK and is also a qualified pharmicist who speaks native english and cantonese. As she has a mobile clinic she can reach most places within an hour and can be contacted at 25238044 or via her mobile No. 60239153 or 60239172 or visit her website at www.DoctorsDirect.com.hk

I just had major bout of diarrhoea and sickness a few nights ago and had to call Doctorsdirect for a home visit. I was given an injection and some pills there and then and felt immediately better, although it took another two days before I was back to completely normal.

Must say I do highly recommend their service, very convenient and professional .

Hi all, I know this is an older post but wanted to say thanks for the info. After turning my ankle on a public holiday I was faced with a painful taxi ride and a 5-6 hour wait at the Queen Mary A&E or use Doctorsdirect. Dr Tony Wong from the London Clinic came to see me within 90 minutes at home, with crutches, drugs and a referral for an x-ray first thing the following morning. If you are from a country that is used to an out-of-hours service, it isn't cheap, but I cannot recommend them highly enough.
