Hi,
My girlfriend and I will arrive in HK on the 24th September - we are transferring with our respective companies from London. We will be in a hotel for two weeks during which time we need to find somewhere to live - so it's important that we go about this the right way so it doesn't take too long!
We would like to stay in a serviced apartment in Mid Levels for a month to buy us time to figure out exactly where we want to live. I'm worried though that finding a suitable serviced apartment may be easier said than done. Requirements as follows:
Budget: up to HKD 25K per month (some wiggle room)
Location: Mid Levels - OR - somewhere with similar access to amenities (subway / supermarkets / bars / restaurants) as Mid Levels and within easy commute of our places of work (ICC in Kowloon for me, Central for her).
I would really appreciate some recommendations for serviced apartments that meet these criteria (or to know if I'm living in cloud cuckoo land - in which case suggestions for realistic alternative would be appreciated).
I've explored the serviced apartment section of this website and it seems that availability within our price range is a bit thin (as apposed to general property renting where there seems to be an abundance of availibility). Do you think we should just focus our efforts on finding a normal (non-serviced) apartment instead?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

With serviced apartments you will be pay more than a standard two year let - mainly because you don't have to commit for more than one month... of course you also get maid service without the hassle of signing a contract with a helper.. + you get furniture.
I've always thought it makes sense to stay in a serviced apartment if you are new to HK.... that way you can decide which part of the city is most appropriate before committing to a longer lease
You might try using the form here and indicating your budget - perhaps an apartment owner might be willing to move on the price a bit - or might have a special offer http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/property/serviced.asp
