Dear All,

I am curious to know if somebody is allowed to work part time in addition to his full time job, if he is on a work visa.

thanks

Is it possible to get your own Visa without sponsorship from a company? does that open up opportunities for various work? Anyone know how to do it?

I dont think so unless you are having a permament ID card! I guess i have to say that you need to take the approval from your sponsoring company and the immigration office. However, freelancing is ok i guess?

In order to do additional work you need permission from your employer and the Immigration dept. The process is your employer writes a letter to immigration giving permission, the part-time job also writes, and you fill out a form for immigration, applying for a side-line visa. This is quite common in the case of expat teachers do extra work, such as examining etc, for the Hk Exam Authority for example, but immigration won't give permission if they perceive a conflict of interest.

i have a work visa which have been extended for another 2 years. However I have resigned from the sponsor company. Will it be difficult to get permission from immigration to freelance? / work for another company?
