We are enrolling our 3yr into a local school and have been advised that there is a voucher system whereupon the government subsidizes $10,000 per year for the first child attending "a preapproved voucher school/preschool".
OK, my question is; we are kiwis, HKID cards recently issued, but not permanent residents - at this stage with a 1 year visa/HKID.
Has anyone applied through this voucher system with a child not born in HK and been successful?
How does it work?

Hello Team NZ,
You can see the website: http://www.sfaa.gov.hk/eng/index.htm
My daughter has also a visa to stay in HK and i applied it before 31 may. And she got the voucher.
I think it doesn't mind if you dont have a hkid. Its just you stay here in HK and your child is going to school. Just try this site, but i think the deadline was 31 may 2007.
good luck

You are eligible for Education voucher as you have right to above and stay at Hong Kong. Ethnicity is not a factor for eligibility. Read here for more details.
