Can't send messages!

Clearly some very knowledgeable people out there - can anyone help with what is probably a really simple query - I have just got PCCW Broadband (which incidentally, they told me was wireless but when it got here the only way to use it is by hooking a wire to my laptop...bizarre!) and tried to send an email through Outlook. I can receive messages but not send and the following message comes up:


Task 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk (1) - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'


Anyone know what it means or a simple solution? Have tried calling PCCW customer services but it seems once they have your money they're not so interested anymore!

What you can do is hire an external authenticated smtp server: www.travelsmtp.com -> their smtp server works on every network, no matter where you are and runs on a different tcp port so its not getting blocked by internet providers.
