When is your wedding? Mine is in July 2007 and I've started to shop for dresses too. For US designer gowns, there are two:- one in landmark, one in Lan Kwai Fong. Would you consider italian brands?

Mine is in Feb, not much time left. I know the one in Landmark and will make an appointment next week. It seems abit pricey though. Where exactly is the Lan Kwai Fong one? thx
Re: brides and gowns, will check it out if i can't find a dress from those two shops. I guess the US style suits me more. Thanks for your recommendation.

Hi
Just had my wedding dress made by Brides and Gowns, it was amazing and just what I wanted, I designed it with one of their designers, if you want the dream wedding dress and not off the peg I couldn't recommend them enough, I tried many many many dress shops and didn;t feel comfortable until I went the B & G - also they made my dress between May and July so you have pleanty of time

Hi Amiee,
I've done most of the bridal shops on HK island and think I am about to sign a contract with Brides and Gowns.
They have a fab range and are really flexible with changing designs, fabric, beading, etc. I've been dealing with Winnie - she is great, very knowledgeable and really listens to what you want. Not cheap though...
Rmulhall, glad to hear about your positive experience with B&G - makes me feel much better about signing on the dotted line!

The Lan Kwai Fong one is pretty new, it's called White. Have made an appointment with them on wed. I'll let you know how it goes afterwards.
I myself am not very impressed with B&G. For that price, i just think i should have something better.

Does anyone know where I can get my wedding dress altered? I bought the dress in England but it will need taking up. I contacted The Wedding Shop but they will only do alterations on gowns bought from that shop. I cna do HK, GZ or Dongguan.

Hi Susan,
I strongly suggest you to do your alteration in Hong Kong, preferably in Central. They have more experience in dealing with delicate dresses. Bad alteration could ruin your dress. There are a number of alteration shops at Melbourn Centre, Central, you can check them out. I think you should also contact Central Weddings, White, or Bride Sposa to see if they will do that for you.
and Aimee, I went to B&G with my good friend earlier this year to pick the dress for her big day too. I honestly think that their designs are so-so; very local styles indeed. I would suggest those shops that carry US, UK and Italian brands, like the wedding shop, central weddings, white and bride sposa.

Hi all,
My weddings in March 2007 in South Africa. I am new to HK and on a limited budget. I dont mind a good off the rack dress that can be sized for me. Definately a western style though.
Where is the place 'white' in Lan Kwai Fong and what are there prices like> Any other recommendations I am starting to have nightmares about getting married in jeans!

i had mine made at brides to be - in central - stanley st Zinha, tel 6612 8774 was a fraction of the price of brides and gowns and very nice too!

White is in Lan Kwai Fong, you can check out its website at www.white-bridal.com. I went there last week and i think it carries a very good collection of gowns from the US. The prices are from 25,000 to 35,000. Quite reasonable. I'm still visiting other shops, but i like White the most so far. What shops have you visited Lisaneal?

I went with a much cheaper option in the end. The place is called "Onmillion Garment MFG. Co" I tied on lots in my size (8) and ended up buying a models sample that fits perfectly at a fraction of the cost. However they do do custom measurements etc. There price range starts at US$200 upwards. I didnt go to any of the bridal places in Central etc as I really dont have that kind of money to spend on the wedding. (but thanks for all the tips) My dress cost under HK$2000 and it look amazing on. If you want to check it out the Lady's name is Jennie Wong 9385 6158

I am undecided I am not sure to go with Brides & Gowns or Brides To Be. The lady at Brides To be was very helpful and seemed to know what she was talking about. The thing is she is half the price of B&G and it makes me wonder!!!! Has anyone heard anything about Brides To Be or has any advice

I got mine made at Brides to Be 25302345. You need to know what you want though and Zenia will design it for you - quite reasonable compared to Brides and Gowns, but not as elaborate or beautiful..

zenia at brides to be made mine too - was 5000 and stunning

Check out www.eldevere.com lots of young expats are using them for custom made gowns. What they can do for $$$ less that the boutiques in Central is Pretty impressive. A friend of mine use them last year and her dress was stunning. Worth a look for sure. Congrats by the way :)

Another place to check our for wedding dresses is in Tsim Sha Tsui (on Kimberely Road) *it's in the middle section mostly like near Observatory Road. Also, for a lower budget or even rental ...87-105 Chatham Rd (a little shopping centre 2-3 floors) lots of shops.. they do let you try and you can get a good range of sizes too!

I'd second the recommendation for Eldevere, I'm getting my dress made through her and she is absolutely fabulous! She really gets it when you talk about what you want and the parts you want to hide:) and knows how to translate that into a dress. When I did my first fit dress I thought it looked amazing, and then she made some suggestions on subtle changes and it just looked ten times better - which i wouldn't have thought was possible. Plus the fabric that she got for me is so so beautiful, I found that many of the dresses in the shop were super expensive but looked like cheap material. I know I"m gushing, but I'm soooo excited about my dress.
Happy planning

Hi there,
I recently visited this new bridal boutique in HK with my sister. They stock US labels such as Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Jim Hjelm and Junko Yoshioka. Definitely worth a visit if you are searching for US labels. Try looking up their website as well to see their collections www.trinitybridal.com.hk
