HK Permanent ID 6000 scheme

ORIGINAL POST

Dear friends ,

I will be completing my 7 years in hK on March-31st-2012, which is by chance the last date for application for 6000 scheme.I have few Questions

1.) If i apply for the permanent Id within this week ,how likely is it for me to get 6000 dollars ?

2.) i have herad from friends that if you apply before completing your 7 years term then IMD takes longer time then usual is it correct ?

3.) Once the deadline for March-31st-2012 finishes for scheme 6000 then they have a a second option that you can apply for 6000 dollar with 200 bonus , will i be eligible for that or since i was not a permanent id holder on March-31st-2012 so i can not apply for this 6000 +200 option , please advise

Any guidence or feedback in this matter would be a great help for me .

Thanks

Why worry about very specific details? Just apply for permanent residency. If immigration deems you're qualified to be granted PR with effectivity not later than March 31, 2012 then you're qualified to apply for the 6,000 grant. It's not like you're leaving Hong Kong in a few days, right? If you do what you need to do and you come out short (of requirements), at least you tried. That's better than not trying at all and rue missed chances later.

Thanks a lot punter for your feedback but my concern was with if someone might have experienced the same situation as mine . BTW i am not leaving HK but was curious to know the details beforehand so i can prepare myself for the forthcoming situations

You can't apply for PR until AFTER you've been here 7 years, so a waste of time applying for it beforehand. It will not be approved. It has to be not less than 7 years ordinarily resident in HKG at the date you make the application.

I seem to remember getting my application for PR just before I had completed the 7 years.

@ Show girl -- Yes for sure we can apply for the PR before 7 years time my concern was that it might get held up or if any chances that i can get the PR before 31st March.

PS --From the below comment of Loyd Grossman it makes clear that we can apply for the PR before 7 years

@ 2Fat -- Thanks that makes me clear that i dont stand in the line .

@ Loyd-- So in how much time frame was your PR confirmed ?

Meanwhile, it's already March 8, 2012 and whatever chances you have qualifying might be gone soon (without trying!).

I kind of think you're worrying about something there's absolutely nothing you need to worry about.

What it states in the Immigration ROP 145 form is: "...persons who have entered Hong Kong with valid travel documents, have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than 7 years...."

Therefore, if you fill in the form before your 7 years are up, you do not meet the criteria above.

Tequila -- Thanks , yes finally i can breath normally

Kuchiku -- Thanks , No fortunately they did not asked for any supporting docs, they sent me one letter after 2 weeks of submission of docs mentioning that some form is missing so i re-sent them the form and after that just 2 weeks before they issued me another letter that they want to see the docs ( HK ID & Passport) i never received the second letter , for me i was fortunate enough as the whole process was around 5 weeks , You can apply for your PR 4 weeks earlier to the actual 7 years time period and i would advise you to submit all your docs and scanned forms online as that saves time and effeciency a lot, and the processing & feedback time is same, BTW when r u completing your 7 years .

So you can apply in July , i yesterday spoke to the officer in ID as the processing time was quick (yesterday my whole process took only 30 mins), she told me this period is slow period but as summer is approching it will be getting busier , so keep that thing in mind as you wuld be applying july which supposedly would be the busy time for ID. Good Luck

Hi GS1211,

Congrats on your PR!

Are you sure you can apply for PR (online or by paper submission) before the actual 7 effective year? This actually goes against everything I've seen so far. My 7 effective year will be on 8/14/2012 and the expiry of my working visa extension is actually on the same date. It also looks like my company will not extend my visa... So applying earlier would be a plus for me.

Any possibility you could share your immig officer contact info by PM so I can have more insight?

Thanks a lot,

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks , yes you can submit your papers before the actual time , in my case my 7 years were going to be completed on April 1st , but i submitted my papers on March -9th and on April-12th i was called for docs verifications & then i was given the date of April-26th to come for HK ID card formalities,

So in your case you can apply for ur papers on July-16th or 17th since your company wont be extending ur visa , Once your papers are submitted then no matter how much time it takes to process u dont have to bother for your visa,

Good Luck ,
