Kowloon or HK island?

I will be working on Cheung Sha Wan Road in Kowloon, and my boyfriend will be working in Central. We are in our late 20s and want to live in a social area. What is the best place where we can both minimize our commuting times and still be close to the fun?

thanks!

Well, if you both live in Cheung Sha Wan it may be a lot cheaper - and not that far away from 'social areas'. Cheung Sha Wan is a bit grim but there is new, modern building there called - believe it or not - 'The Sparkle'. This would give you relatively cheap, good quality base. The building, which has balconies and pool etc, is about 5 minutes walk from Cheung Sha Wan MTR and 10 minutes walk from Nam Cheong MTR station. By the way, I'm not an estate agentI. The building's web-site is ohttp://www.hld.com/Property/LocalSales/kowloon/Thesparkle/index.html . If you want to live in the social areas - such as SOHO - then it will cost you about HK$15,000 to rent a 450 square foot flat. At The Sparkle, it would be about 7,000-10,000 I would think. You could also consider West Kowloon which would be pricier than Cheung Sha Wan but more convenient for travelling either way.
