Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone knows of where a Weber kettle styled barbeque can be purchased in HK?
I've managed to find a poor substitute, however unfortunately it does not have a lid! (Essential for my hubby's special smoky aussie bbqs!)
Alternatively, if anyone has an unloved Weber in good condition we'd love to buy it!
Cheers,
Kim

Top quality bbq's at a fraction of Weber http://www.renaudlifestyle.com/barbeque-grills.html

Check out B&Q (the mega outlet) at MEGA BOX in Kowloon Bay, Kowloon. They carry 4-5 various styles of such BBQ stoves with lids ... prices range from some HKD 1500 to 4500 if I remember correctly. Good Luck!

Thanks Ed and Lawman,
Will pop over to B&Q this week.
Now, where to find a decent snag to cook!
Cheers,
Kim

You used to be able to buy Weber BBQs from Indigo, think they still stock it.

Indigo have not renewed their agreement with Weber. Amazon (and others) will not export the BBQ's outside the US. I even spoke to the local buying rep for Weber in HK and had lengthy discussions with their US helpdesk. All to no avail. In the end I got my brother in law in the US to buy it and have it posted by the US Postal service to Hong Kong. I am sure there is an easier way...but I could not find it. Now I like Webers and went to a fair amount of trouble. If you are more relaxed about the brand you use, then Ap Lei Chau have some outlets, and there is an advertiser on this site.

You can buy a deluxe quality bbq for well under half the price of the shops through BBQ King... http://www.renaudlifestyle.com/barbeque-grills.html
I had one of these when I lived in Shanghai and it was excellent.

Thanks Ed,
Not quite the kind we're after, but we will pass the details to our friends who are also seeking a bbq.
Cheers!

Yeah, i heard about the bbq place in Ap Lei Chau. Jervis Bay i think... my mate bought a small bbq from them (she didn't want a massive one since her balcony is miniature - aren't they all?!?)

Hi all,
Just wanted to say a very big thankyou to everyone for their help.
I checked out B&Q yesterday, unfortunately no luck. However, I've just been to Indigo in Repulse Bay and managed to pick up a fantastic full size Weber style kettle. Even better, it was 50% off! At $420, a great bargain.
Hubbie's birthday is next week, I'm sure the bbq will be his favourite present!
Now to taunt our neighbours with the wafting smell of a roast on the Weber....

Sorry. Just a preference. Will think more carefully in future.

Ya I was looking for Weber they are not in Hong Kong. China made kettle grills are in HK but itusually only last a year before the bottom falls outs.
Thanks Ed! I was a little reluctant to purchase a gas grill from Renaud Lifestyle Products because they are an online dealer but once it arrived it really did surpass my expectations. They delivered and assembled within one day but did forget the bbq cover and came back that same day anyways.
I bought the King Turbo for $7900. Same style grill in Horizon plaza would be at least 25k......what a rip off. Glad to of found these guys.
You will need to order you own gas but I found this link to be very useful.

Any suggestions for gas on the South Side? I shipped my Weber Q from the States (where we have lived for 4 years) but I still need to get gas. I used those fairly small bottles but I also bought the hose to connect a big one ... just haven't come around to get the gas, and hoping it won't be a problem with an US BBQ?!

Try this company in Aberdeen:
Po Sin Sing Kee Engineering Co Ltd 2554 1136
We bought a Weber here a few years back and these guys supplied the gas plus the regulator/connectors you need in HK. I'm sure if you explain the situation then they can help you.

Barbecue King already lists all the Shell gas contacts in Hong Kong on its website.

Those are not even close to the quality of a Weber. They will rust and you'll need parts. They do work fine apart from that.
Wing-On also carries BBQs.
As for Gas, we use Sze Wo Chaan Co. Ltd. 2569 5026. They deliver to south side.

Appreciate some advice .
Can anyone comment on whether the BBQ King is comparable with the Beefeater range of gas grills which are available at Jervisbay in Ap Lei Chau. I understand BBQ King seem to have received some good reviews however wanted to get some comparable views.

take a look at www.everythingunderthesun.com.hk, i was in thier store the other day and they have CADACs from South Africa, very good products.

Webers DO rust! Weber Australia now won't sell me required spare parts (igniters and flavoriser bar) for the won't-ever-rust Silver Summit they shipped to me 6 years ago, so I'm hoping I can still get the parts in Britain otherwise that was quite an expensive BBQ that's going in the lap sap. Still, I had a few years out of it, but could have had three cheaper ones for the price.

CADAC nowhere near as good as Webers, but then to be fair you're paying nowhere near the price. As the CADAC told me, you should not compare a Mondeo with a Porsche. I have to agree - I've owned both (barbecues that is, not the cars, I'm afraid). Weber is definitely way superior because it reaches heat CADAC can't. But parts do rust, whatever the blurb tells you.
