hi, was looking at moving to saikung, think it would be a great lifestyle but was wondering on a few questions.
i have my own car and so will drive to work, wondering what the commute time is at 6.30am and at 6.15pm(peak hour) from ICC(the new skyscraper in west kowloon) to Sai Kung (Marina Cove area)
2/ if you go out for a big night in central, is it difficult to get a taxi back to sai kung at midnight (ie in australia, taxi drivers would refuse to drive you to remote areas as they cant get fare back to town), anyway if not , what would be the cost.
Also,

Be careful Cara with brash statements about they MUST etc. Green taxis cannot you to Kowloon or HK.
To the OP, it should take about 45 mins to an hour via Choi Hung. Obviously, it is so dependent on traffic.
You could go to Hang Hau MTR and then transfer. There is parking available and then you only have to worry about traffic between Sai Kung and Hang Hau. Probably will only save you a little time but is less stress on the driving.

i would agree on park and ride from hang hau...39 mins on the train to ICC, throw on the ipod, watch a show, no worries about traffic (except the Sai Kung bit), and if you stay out late, last train from central is 1258 back...

The OP has said they would drive to work and I don't think it will take you 45 minutes or longer to get there at all. I live in Hebe Haven and it only takes about 40 minutes to get to the airport!
Travelling at that time of the morning would be no problem at all. Admittedly I have never driven to and parked at the ICC, but driving (and parking) time to Elements is approx 30 minutes, so it would be similar. Coming back in the evening could be a little longer as getting through TST can be difficult.
It is very unlikely that a taxi would refuse to take you to Sai Kung. It is a good fare - probably around $200-$250 I would say.

yes OP has a car, but that doesn't rule out offering other options...my point was if OP chose to park and ride, then after a big night (assuming alcohol is involved) their car is sitting in hang hau the next morning, not in a car park in central...easier to get to and less stress overall...

It will take you 25 minutes at that time of the morning. Drive there via fei gno shan and choi hung. It will take about 35 mins in the evening. I drive there from sai Kung as I work there.
