Has anyone looked into bringing or ever brought a domestic helper to the USA?
We are moving there in a few months & it seems very difficult to find full time helpers there...
FYI< we are moving to New Jersey...

Friend tried & failed about 5 years ago - same as anywhere, you have to prove she has skills not available locally. My friend was told the only possible exception was if they were long term expats, always moving and the same helper had been with them throughout & this was another temporary move (verified by the company) then they MIGHT be able to keep her with them.

From what i understand when people are succesful getting a helper to the US or Europe they leave almost immediatly and work illegally for MUCH more money. This happens even on short holidays and who can blame them? 2 years there is worth 10 here.
If you are successful getting your helper over then be sure to give them a raise to what ever the going rate is in the states.
