Hi there

Has anyone had a wedding or attended a wedding in HK which they thought was terrific?

My fiance and I are going to have our wedding in HK in March. We were thinking of having the ceromony on a junk then a dinner at a restaurant...we were thinking the FCC?

Does anyone have any ideas. R there any really good restaurants in HK to have a wedding - max 35 people?? I have only been living here for a few months so any ideas would be appreciated.

Has anyone been on board a junk for a wedding? Was it good or was the water a bit rough in the harbour?

My friends had their wedding reception at a restaurant in Hong Kong Park. I didn't attend but saw their VDO. The place was nice. If you've been there, you may like it. The place was white and looked like a one-story house. The Tea Museum is nearby.

(I was in Hong Kong in 2002 and visit Hong Kong periodically (twice a year). I'm now in Bangkok.)

We had our wedding last year (October) on a junk. Went out toward Sai Kung - it was not choppy at all. We went on the white Jaspas junk, they decorated it wonderfully with white and pink balloons.

We got married at the Cotton Tree Marriage Registry followed by a Jaspas junk. It was great fun and good value (HK$550 per person including food and drinks). We paid extra for flowers and balloons but they did a great job with decorating the boat.

Hi madxpat

We had the civil ceremony at the Cotton Tree Drive Registry and the reception at the Jaspas Junk. Japas charged HK$ 550 per person - food, beverages were included we also paid something extra for some decoration (for the flowers, balloons were included).

Just noticed MAWU's post...

I know this thread is old, but I went through a lot of forums when I was organizing my wedding, and I promised myself to pass on tips later on, if I was pleased with my wedding venue.

We had our wedding reception at Duetto, Italian-Indian restaurant in Wanchai http://www.chiram.com.hk. We wanted something simple & classy, and our reception was wonderful! The staff listened to what we wanted really well and did an amazing job. Ours guests found the dinner delicious. And it was not as expensive than having the reception at a hotel, and not as cheesy!!

HI Everyone, I need some advice please. I am planning to have a Church Catholic Wedding in Hong Kong. I am married legally in India, but want to have a Catholic wedding in Hong Kong. So it is just the Church celebration, was wondering if the requirements for the Church wedding, can it be completed on our home country or should it be conducted in Hong Kong Church? Like the seminar and all that.

Also do you know any private party function rooms good for 20 people? Was thinking of a nice reception, but does not have to be expensive. Thanks!

If you are looking for a wedding dress maker. Check out www.eldevere.com lots of young expats are using them for custom made gowns. What they can do for $$$ less that the boutiques in Central is Pretty impressive. A friend of mine use them last year and her dress was stunning. Worth a look for sure. Congrats by the way :)

I went to a wedding at Top Deck that was absolutely fantastic. The couple got married at the registry at Cotton TRee Drive with just a few close friends, did the photos in the park and then headed to Top Deck. We had the private room at the back which opened up to the deck where we had our own area. It was such a fun day, it was laid back and casual but still had the air of elegance you want for a wedding. I also went to a wedding on a junk which was lots of fun, again they got married at the registry with a small group.

Good luck!

I went to a wedding at the Aberdeen Marina Club earlier this year. it was pertty cool as it was an outdoor wedding - they had a big marquee. It was wonderful to get out of the city. I'm recently engaged and so I'm also planning my own wedding now. I came across this website which was quite useful - : www.hkweddingsos.com
