Hi,
One of my friend has a problem...
Her husband gave yeaterday a deposit for a ring (he wanted to b uy her a nice ring for her birthday), but did not realised that it was really crazy regarding the circonstances happening to them (her mother is in the hospital, and they are paying for the hospital's bill).
After talking to my girl friend, he realised his mistake and wanted to get his deposit back (only 12h after he gave the deposit). He explained to the store manager that he needed to pay a hospital bill, that he did not know that he will be so expensive...bla bla...but the store manager did not care and do not want to give him his deposit back.
So my question is:
- since he just moved to HK and did not know that the jewlery does not have a return policy (they did not mention it ), don't they have the obligation to return the deposit?
The store is saying that the policy is written on the invoice...but he had the invoice only after paying...also, is it legal to have a no refundable policy after 12h? (in europe you always have at least 7 days, so he did not know)...
And is there is anything that he can do?
Thanks
Julie

[UPDATE] Please note that fee quotes stated in historic postings may be out-of-date.
It is very difficult for him to obtain the refund of the deposit if there is a no refundable policy. A deal is a deal.
