I couldn't find a thread about this so I thought I start one ...
I've just heard that they are bad for kids eyes but after searching I can't seem to find anything concrete online. Anyone with their 2 cents?
There are tons of kids movies out this easter, the only places that most of the English movies are in Tung Chung which is quite a travel for us, I guess I have to like it or lump it, very annoying :(
... sex and zen out in '3D', quite alarming to think something looks like it's going to jump out at you ;)

Given the ease of litigation in the US, my bet is that if 3D movies were bad for kids, some group would have tried suing already and it would be all over the news. 3D movies have been around for decades and as far as I know there haven't been any issues.

I bet a lot of people have done a lot of solid research. First among these would be the movie companies that don't want to be sued. Disney especially excels at not losing lawsuits from consumers. Secondly you have consumer advocacy groups. Thirdly, you have news organizations looking for dirt.
With that type of money floating around for litigation, counter-litigation and research, I think any dirt would have floated to the surface a long time ago. Again, 3D movies have been around for decades and there haven't been issues.
3D movies are just tricking the optic processing of the brain a bit to see depth when it isn't there. Essentially that's what the eyes do anyway, by superimposing two separate pictures to generate stereoscopic vision. 3D movies are not forcing people to look cross-eyed or anything.
As for your wife... Well, on the list of things I worry about, this would be very far down. As opposed to, for example, taking a taxi in HK. ;)
