Hi its me again :-)

Can you please provide some useful figures on how much I should be budgeting for on a monthly basis? As a single mother I am not a big spender on big nights out as I do not drink alcohol etc, I have two small children under the age of 5 at the moment, and I am allocating a rental budget of approx 30HKD a month. Feedback is greatly appreciated on the sorts of costs I should be budgeting for such as schooling, maid, bills, food etc to give me a sense of how much or little I will be able to save from my salary

First of all, I assume you mean 30000/month for rent. ;)

- Helper: 5000+ per month including wages, trips home, food allowance, insurance and so forth.

- Electrical: 2000-4000/month.

- Water and gas: 400/month.

- Food: very much depends but if you go for Western food: 6000-8000/month.

- Transport including taxis and public transport: 2000/month.

- School: International schools are 6000-12000/month plus a one time debenture of 80000-120000 for some schools.

"Electrical: 2000-4000/month"

A typo I guess? I don't know off-hand what my electrical bill is but unless you're running a factory I can't see how it's possible to spend that much per month on electricity.

Not a typo at all. A 3-4 bedroom gets up to 4k easy in the summer even if you are sparing with the A/C.
