Can anyone tell me what the situation is for using more than one computer on my PCCW Broadband
plan? Does it cost more? What does PCCW need to do or can I do it without them?
Thanks

This is perfectly normal. You will obvuiosuly need a router in order to network 2 or more computers but you only need one broadband account.
Checking email is different you will need as many email accounts as you have people on the network, but if you only have one email account and you share this account - then no problems. Your only cost will be the networking of the computers.

As bob the builder says, this happens all the time. PCCW won't do it for you however. A good wireless router is about HK$400-700. That's pretty much all you need plus maybe a couple of cables.
I would recommend not using the netvigator email. It's not very good and you can't take it with you once you move. Get a gmail account or something instead.

Actually, axptguy, you are incorrect, PCCW did ours ... We have Broadband connections in 3 rooms for 3 computers, and PCCW provided what we needed and did all the necessary wiring.

I stand corrected then.
Did they charge?

Sapphire - how much is your monthly broadband charge ? Are you paying for 1 or 3 lines ?

The other option is to go for wireless broadband with PCCW, they will install it for you and set it up on all the cpmputers you have. If you get any others all you need to do it log on to the network using the log in and password they provided

axpat, it's been a while ago now as we had it all done when we moved into the apartment, but if there was a charge it was minimal.
boddingtons, sorry, I have no idea how much we pay per month as that's hubby's department, but I think we only pay for one line.
Also, since have the wiring done, PCCW came to 'upgrade' our broadband and provided us with wireless connection for free!
