15K! Rent a village house in Tai Po for 5K and buy a car! Don't know how old you are and how close to the action you want to be, but any where on the island, unless you can afford 60K plus is not good!

Enjoy H.K

thanx guys for the advises. I m 27, at this stage probablly will not buy a car yet. the school is going to reimburse me 16k a month for rental, so that is the budget I will have. I just want a clean neat fairly quiet apartment that is close to my school.

CIS? Probably can get 500 square feet for 16k down in Tin Hau 5 minute bus ride, can walk to Causeway Bay and easy MTR to Central.

Hi Adickt as mentioned above Tin Hau is a good place to live or if you don't mind a bit more travel anywhere along the island line is convenient. You don't have to spend 60K a month to live on the island in fact no where near that amount. have a look at some places advertised or google HK property and you'll get a lot of options. At least you'll get a slight idea for when you land. Good Luck!

Where in Tai Po can you get a whole village house for $5000?Iv'e lived here 10 years and the rents going up all the time, even in Tai Po.

You will need a car if in the middle of nowhere but its being developed all the time here, think permanent building site.Try a serviced apartment on a shorterm lease so you can get a feel for the place.

You can certainly get a one bedroom in a decent building on the Island for 15k. It won't be huge of course. Look at Tai Koo and Tin Hau.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all your help. I think I might get a room to share to start with , then look for my own place. Any good website I should go to find a share room?

Thanx

I would say tin hau, tai hang, fortress hill and north point are best bets for minimizing commute. I live in tai hang and my apartment is quite quiet. You do have to look hard enough for a quiet place. 15k could probably fetch you a 400-500 ish sqft apartment in the areas I mentioned, depending on quality of interior works etc... Tai hang is a little more expensive. Good luck with your search!!! :)

if you're working up on Hau Yuen Path (several schools, not only CIS, up there),

you could live as far out as Chai Wan (much cheaper) and take 529P bus to work...easy commute....look for places along the route, including Island Resort, Grande Promenade, Bayview Park, Les Saisons
