Ok... Here's my problem
We just moved to a new apartment in Sheung Wan and we transfered our Now TV and Broadband service. The engineer came round and did his thing, the TV worked great but i realized we had no internet...
The engineer returned the next day and got the internet running and said all was now fine. This time after he left, we realized that the TV channels had lost their subscriptions.
He returned again the day after that and after a while said we could either have Internet or TV, not both, as the cables in the walls are wrong and we can't have both services.
Does anybody know if this can be right, as when the internet was working, the Now TV still worked, only the subcriptions had gone.. All we wanted was for our subscriptions to be returned. Now the engineer says it's impossible with our cables to have both.. What would wrong cables have to do with subscriptions dissapearing?
I hope somebody can help shed light on this for me, as I just cant get a straight answer from customer service.

Some locations just don't have the necessary bandwidth to do both, and depending on how the apartment was wired up he could well be right (are you certain you've got Cat 5 or Cat 6 cables in there?).
When i was living in Sai Ying Pun the TV was terrible (always static and cracking up) but the internet worked... could never get both the TV and the internet to work well at the same time. But i reckon that was just the area and the building i was living in.
One option that could work for you is the wireless HD receiver. They can allocate your incoming line as solely for the internet, and can give you a wireless TV receiver (will usually have the wireless singal located in a communal area nearby). With that you should be able to run both internet and TV as the TV won't be hard wired (and you're internet will be faster than if it was sharing a line with the TV).

Hi Scrugby..
Thanks for your reply.. Well the internet is really fast, and the tv did work with a great signal whilst the internet was on and even downloading, its just that the channels on the TV dont show as subscribed anymore. I can't see how we'd lose subscriptions through having too low a bandwidth.
Anyhoo, they are sending another engineer tomorrow, i'll see what they say and also check out the wireless HD receiver you mentioned..
Cheers..
