We just got PCCW's NowTV installed and have 2 problems with the equipment
we brought over from the UK to actually watch it on:
1) the TV picture has lots of vertical lines and dots across the screen
2) whilst we can watch DVDs and stuff that we recorded on the HDD in the UK, we don't seem to be able to sync the HDD to the new Now TV channels - ie can't record anything new in HK.
PCCW claim that the first problem is because their installed decoder is not an HD one, unlike our TV, and we need to upgrade the decoder so we can use our HDMI cable (of course at an additional cost!), but with no guarantees that the lines/dots will vanish on upgrade..
I guess we may be in a minority having brought stuff like this with us to HK, but do
you have any advice from your own experiences/knowledge?

Not sure but the video system your TV is using is not compatible with what the Netvigator decoder is "supplying". If you can change your TV video system to "Auto", it might work...

Thanks "punter"
I'll give that a try.

1) It should be incompatible issue;
What kind of video input are you using (eg. AV, component or HDMI)?
What is the model of your now Set-top-box?
Is your TV set running PAL or NTSC?
2) nowTV only broadcast their own contents, but if you are using their all-in-one STB, you can enjoy local Digital TV service and record it with your HDD.
