Breast enhancement, breast augmentation, boob job, whatever.
Since there seems to be a lot of confusion and I just went through my second procedure, I wanted to help out and let other women know my experience. I am Asian and started off with very little, let's say.
First of all, I am overwhelmingly in favor of it. Unless you are a natural D cup already (in which case you will need a lift at 40 anyway), you will benefit from it - like how is being more sexy and attractive going to be a problem? Most of us spend thousands a year on clothing, accessories, and cosmetics anyway (if not tens of thousands) so the cost shouldn't be an issue, and there are so few drawbacks to the procedure that there shouldn't be any other reason not to either.
I had my first procedure done 8 years ago in the USA, after a lot of silly deliberation. Once it was done, I was almost ashamed at how easy it was and why I had waited so long or made such a big deal about it. The whole procedure took about 45 minutes. I got relatively small saline implants and I was super happy with them. No problem, no complications. OK, a little pain, but I did it on Monday and on Wednesday I went to Las Vegas so it couldn't have been that bad.
Recently I started looking to have them upgraded to the new gel implants, and larger. I live in HK so I did as much research as I could about here and of course in Thailand.
Early on, I ruled out HK. Even with skill, experience counts, and if you look around you can pretty much see that there aren't a lot of boob jobs around here. I have had good experience with Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok before, so I started there. I also searched this forum and really anywhere else I could find. There were a few recommendations I started from, so let me summarize what I concluded:
Samitivej Hospital - Dr. Chartchai was recommended in a previous thread here. He has a western PA who got back to me immediately. However, he quoted 240,000 Baht for the procedure, which is over $7,000 USD. My original surgeon in Beverly Hills (no less) quoted me 20% cheaper! This price is almost 3 times Bumrungrad's advertised 90,000 for a basic first package, BTW. The whole point of Thailand is that it is supposed to be a bargain, right? Well, not this guy. Next!
2 other names came up - Dr. Chettawut and Dr. Pichet. Both operate their own outpatient centers (just like most surgeons in the USA) and after a lot of research and communications, I chose Dr. Pichet. I am extremely happy with my decision.
Dr. Pichet operates his own clinic and surgery center where he does most of his procedures in-house. It is located about 3 miles north of Sukhumvit on Ratchdapisek. He specializes in full transsexual procedures, so I reasoned that a simple boob job should be pretty easy for him. He has done thousands, and mine went perfectly.
The clinic is sparkling clean, and he has a large staff of Thai nurses and other assistants who really take care of your every need. Unlike a lot of hospitals you see on US TV, it doesn't look like the bridge of the Starship Enterprise, but he does have all of the very modern equipment he needs for the procedures he does in house.
Make no mistake he runs this as a business. Don't faff around with the payment. To make things easy we brought cash USD but you can use a credit card too. He is a nice guy and makes you feel at ease, but he is professional and efficient. You get the idea he is a craftsman who wants to do a good job and get on with it. For this reason, the whole process is really quick and uncomplicated. Not a lot of wheeling here and there and waiting endlessly in different rooms. His staff are also caring (and smiling) but they are very matter of fact with everything as well.
My emails were answered more or less immediately, I talked to him on the phone from HK, and we arranged everything in advance on a 4-day timeline. I flew in in the morning - they even pick you up at the airport - I had my consultation and lab work done, and the next morning did the procedure at 9:30 am. By 11 I was awake and went back to the hotel at 3 (BTW, they will let you stay all night if you want). I was on my feet by the next day at noon. I paid about US$4k all in, but this included XL implants, and a more complicated revision. A first procedure should be $2,600 or so.
You can google him and read all about other people's experiences in other independent forums. He also has 18+ pages of testimonials on his website which I read selectively. Almost all of them are spot-on for their specific comments. Some of the TS patients have been unhappy, but from what I saw, only with the downstairs bits which have to be a palaver no matter what. I saw zero complaints anywhere with his boob jobs, and I am really happy with mine.
I will close with 2 last comments, which are really obvious to me now but seem not to get much emphasis elsewhere:
o If you are going to get a boob job, get a boob job. This may seem a tad obvious, but this is not the time to be timid. Most women hem and haw about bigger vs smaller, most opt for smaller, and most are a little disappointed. I was. From about the 6th month I had my first ones, I wished I had gone bigger. This is a common experience with most of us. Every famous rack you have in your subconscious is at least a D cup, and most of us will need at least 600's to get there. Don't even bother with anything less than 400.
o You will need a new procedure about every 10 years. I don't know why this isn't more obvious in all the literature, but you will. For sure. For a variety of reasons. Make sure you are OK with this before you start.
I hope this helps anyone who is thinking of it.

I hope my recommendation can give those who are interested in breast job more help in this forum.
According to his website, Dr. Chang has been doing breast augmentation under local anesthesia for more than 10 years, and I personal saw some of his patients immediately after breast augmentation, no one could image that these people had just done their breast job!
Dr. Chang's website is : http:27565488.com

Hi Ocean31,
I've done mine 10 yrs ago in HK. After breastfeeding my son intensively for 1.6 year, I think it's time for a replacement.
I'd like to know if your implant is under or infront of the pef muscle? Where is the incision? Under the armpit or around the nipple?
Thanks

I know these are old posts, but when researching my 'boob job' I read all of these.
I am an Australian living in HK and after having 2 kids and breastfeeding both for a year each I decided to have my breast done.
Dr Hui did my surgery this year in April 2012.
I am very happy with the results and the before and after care. I think they are very natural looking and my girlfriends (and husband!) are all very impressed. It is an overnight stay the Matilda. I do have some scaring however Dr. Hui goes in underneath the breast so it is covered by any bra or cosy you wear.
It is not cheap. Total cost with the hospital stay is going to set you back about $110,000 HKD. I had a girlfiend who had her breast done the same week in Thailand and I think hers were about $35,000 HKD. That does not include airfares, hotel stays etc. I thought about the Thailand option but did not feel comfortable with traveling overseas to do this and was concerned about after surgery care. Of which my girlfriend who went to Thailand has had none.
Do not underestimate the size of this surgery however. It seems like lots of people have done it and it is no big deal but the first few days really are awful. They don't tell you about that in the pretty pastel coloured brochures with the illustrations. Of course there are no photos as if you saw photos it might put you off and this is a business for the Doctors after all!
When you wake up you are wearing a surgical bra and have drains inserted under each breast which filter down two tubes into two little plastic bottles. You have to empty these little bottles regularly and use a syringe to measure the amount of bloody fluid that has drained out of you. You keep a log of this. Once the measurement is under 30ml in 24 hours you can have the drains removed. Which was a horrible experience! The drains are about the size of a flat chopstick (a bit wider infact) and are under your skin. I found the drains very uncomfortable. Once the drains were removed my recovery was much better.
I did find myself the day after asking myself what I had done? There was nothing wrong with me! Would I ever be able to pick my kids up again? Generally pretty miserable. But of course that is all normal and forgotten later on ... just like childbirth!
If you are thinking should you or shouldn't you and have been thinking about it for a long time (as I had) just get over yourself and do it! Stop asking the question of yourself! I love my new figure. I feel very womanly and it is nice to fill out my cloths without shoving something down my bra to do the job!
Hope this helps anyone out there!
