Anyone know where I can find rabbit meat?

And yes, I know they're cute. So are lambs...

That's a good question, but I'm afraid I haven't seen it on sale (though I haven't really looked that hard.) And as you say, meat is meat. I had a ridiculously delicious rabbit ragout in an Italian restaurant here the other week so it must be available, even if frozen. Hope someone can answer as I'm bored of chicken, beef, pork and lamb. As my partner says, it's time a new animal was discovered.

That made me chuckle. Thanks for your response. As it turns out, I found some. On Wanchai road (the part that goes up through the street market area to QRE) at a frozen meat shop. I got 4 for HKD316. They were quite meaty, though one had significant freezer burn and had to be tossed. I jointed them, brined them for about 24 hours, then stewed them in a potjie (South African style of cooking over coals in a cast-iron, 3-legged pot - use the Google) with porcini, yam and butternut for about 2 hours. Came out tender, sweet and tasty. As for other animals; until we discover a new one, the goat you get from the fresh meat stalls in Wanchai market is pretty tasty and novel. Just don't let them chop it up for you (a leg, for example) as you end up with bone fragments in your meat.

BIG thanks for that, Mingsta! Goat curry reminds me of a long-ago holiday in Barbados and of London's Notting Hill Carnival - delicious. Will definitely be heading over to Wanchai very soon...

By the way, your rabbit dish sounds fantastic! You've inspired us to dust down our South African recipe book and get cooking.
