Suggestions on South Island Apartments

Moving with my family in Aug (3 kids 9-14 yrs old + dog). Have narrowed my apartment search to 101/109 RB, Parkview, Pacific View after spending the last several weeks in HK. All OK for school/work commuting although we're trying to avoid having a car.

Currently on the waiting list for 101/109 RB, but not sure it is better to wait or move on one of the other choices.

Suggestions on any of these apartment choices are greatly appreciated!

I'd rather stab myself in the left eyeball than move to Darkview (AKA "Gwailos in the Mist"). Stayed there for a few weeks and it's way too isolated for us. Also the architecture is a bit too "luxury Soviet Union". Fine facilities though. Communications are way worse than 101/109 as you are dependent on the Shuttle Bus and it only goes to Central.

If I had to live in a big building, 101 would be my choice, followed by 109 and The Manhattan. You could also look at Bel-Air but avoid Phase 8 (AKA "Oreo Towers) like the plague. Tiny apartments and a pool that is more for show than for use.

Thanks. I did hear about the mist at PV from a coworker and you've reinforced that major weakness. Waiting list at the Manhattan is crazy, so that's pretty much out for me. I'll check out Bel-Air.

BTW - keep up the good work. I've picked up a alot from your input on other accommodation and DH posts!

i will chime in here as i have lived in PV for 4 years; we work in central and our kids (who are under 10) go to HKIS and Pips so PV for us was a great choice. if you look at the developer owned flats - they keep them in good shape with modern appliances etc; great facilities and very easy to take shuttle bus into wan chai/admiralty/central (the 3 stops inbound)...you have older kids who can venture out on their own more (beach/pools/food etc) so 101/109 wuold be better for you but with kids under 10 and a commute to central - nothing beats PV!

oops - i forgot to add - the mist is the most annoying aspect and it only is around for 1-2 months in the spring (same issue as any house on the peak) - this year for some reson - it was virtually non existant
