Hi there, we recently moved to DB from South Africa - have two children - boy 10 months and girl 2.5years.

Are there any informal playdates / playgroups that we could join?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello,

We are moving to DB in 10 days and I have an 8 month old boy. We are just over from London (although I'm Australian) 4 weeks ago so still settling in.

Please let me know if you do find any playgroups for under 1's. I've been looking but there doesn't seem to be anything formal. We are moving into Chianti...

Hi Lisa

Welcome to HK and I trust that you will really enjoy the life here. There is a lot of formal playgroups here, but rather expensive and we decided not to join them for our boy - on average, only for and hour and half (some less), and the problem is that you (or your helper) have to accompany the child to the playgroup. For that kind of money, you can actually do a lot more things here. And the problem we had is that the playgroups here are mostly late morning and this clash with Louis's morning sleep, then he is difficult, does not want to take part ... etc etc.

Let us know when you arrive in DB and my wife will show you around. What we heard is the best is speak to people at playgrounds, the residents' club, etc, but we find that at especially the playgrounds, it is mostly workers / domestic workers that is with the children, so there goes the connection to the parents...

Look forward to hearing from you.
