Will be applying to get my visa extended (dependant) - just wondering if spouse has to be in HK at time of application.

The immigration website states applicant (me) has to be in HK at time of app & collection but no mention of sponsor/spouse. Can anyone shed light on this as my spouse won't be in HK when i make my application.

He/She doesn't need to be in HK, i remember when i renew my dep. visa my husband is in the UK (business trip) as long as you have all the docs signed by your spouse(sponsor) then will be ok.

Thanks alexismith,

Did u provide copy of ur husbands passport and HKID with the forms?

Asking as I only have copy of husbands passport and too late for me to get a copy of his HKID - just wondering if this will cause issues.

[UPDATE] Please note that fee quotes stated in historic postings may be out-of-date.

Your spouse does not have to be in Hong Kong. Only the dependant (i.e. applicant for the visa) needs be present in Hong Kong at the time of the visa extension application.
