Hi,

I have Graves Disease but have now been in remission for nearly 1 year. Have been off the drugs since May. We are trying for another baby (We already have a beautiful boy just turned 4) but are so far not having alot of luck. Just wondering if anyone else out there has Graves disease and had problems conceiving? My periods are regular as clockwork but maybe I am not ovulating??

kat, happy to hear that you are in remission. it's wonderful news to hear that you are ttc. i have no experience in graves disease but i believe it should not be a problem. how long have you been ttc for the second one? i believe you will get pregnant soon enough, even healthy people like me takes 6 month to get preggy. just keep trying. hope to hear your good news soon.

thanks mother 2005. We have been (half heartedly) trying for the last 3 months. Thought I was preggy this month - felt a bit strange but AF came right on time :(... hey ho. Trying not to think too much about it and let nature take its course. Funny isn't it that you spend all your early years trying not to get pregnant and then you want to and its just not that easy?! How far along are you? Hope all is going well with your pregnancy.

katclarke,

if you're not sure whether you're ovulating or not, maybe you should try the Ovulation Predictor Kits? You can buy them in Mannings - quite expensive - but they are easy to use and will pinpoint when you are about to ovulate. They work by trying to find the Lutinising Hormone (LH) which is supposed to peak 24-26hrs before you ovulte. You just pee on the stick, and if your LH is elevated, the stick will tell you and it will mean that you will be ovulating in the next 24-36hrs....

I found them quite useful because at one stage, although I don't have Graves, I did worry that I waan't ovulating!

Worth a try!

kat, my pregnancy was a rocky one. i lost my baby last year at 5 month preggy. now i am pregnant again at 20 weeks. but i bled heavily at 6 weeks that i was confined to bed rest and injections every day for 2 month. everything is fine now, fingers cross. like my husband always said, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. even though i lost a baby, i have a 2 year old boy who is the cutest boy and the most adorable boy for me and my husband ( i know, parents are always bias about their own children ). and he's a bundle of joy and made up for all our loss. hang in there, you will get preggy. be praying for you.

mother 2005, fingers & toes crossed that your pregnancy will be smooth sailing from here on. I know how you feel, I lost my first baby at 16 weeks (delivered at home in uk, on my own, then drove myself to hospital!!! amazing what you do on auto-pilot) ended up being Listeria and I was being soo careful too!
