Post Pregnancy - No periods for 8 months

I had a baby 8 months ago and stopped breastfeeding at 5months and I still have not yet had a period. I did a pregnancy test today to be sure that wasn't the cause and it was negative. So my question is, is this normal? Should I keep waiting or should I go see my OB/gyn or family dr?

It is quite unusual to not get a period for so long after stopping breast feeding.



There can be many causes, from hormone imbalance to pregnancy.



I suggested she should see a doctor about it.

During the 9 months of pregnancy and the 5 months of lactation the ovulation cycle was shut down, sometmes the ovaries reluctant to start up again. This is an annoyance but NOT a serious problem.

3 months is not unusual, more than that would be.
