We got ours in Wing On for $1400 including mattress and I really don't think it can get cheaper than that! Perhaps you can try the trading post on this forum?

the pali crib does what you describe. We have on and although it is expensive (around 4K) it has served us very well with our first and now our second. The mattress on the pali is also very good. try and see if you can find a used one - a new mattress will run you about $800 or $900 for a new one

Jusco is another option at the cheaper end of the price range.

Loads of people are advertising v. nice looking cots on this site, you can then just get a new mattress if you like. Silly spending so much money on a bed that your child will only get a couple of years' use out of. And shockingly unenvironmental.

I thought I saw a cot at Mothercare in Windsor house the other day for $2K+ that can be put next to parents' bed. Don't know how it works exactly, as I stopped looking at it after I saw the price tag! I just bought a crib at Wing On after trailing all over HK. I inquired about a couple of cots on the classifieds of this website, but there seemed to be an issue with either finding a replacement mattress or drop side. I gave up in the end and just bought a brand new one. Good luck! P.S. There is also a store called Eugene Club in Grand Century Place Mongkok that sells cribs- Pali & some chinese brands, along with lots of other baby stuff. A friend just bought her crib there.

The specific Jusco I had in mind is in Whampoa (Hung Hom).

Sorry for the radio silence yankee -- yes, the cot we have from Wing On has one removable side. We have tried putting it up against our bed and it aligns perfectly. Do make sure you have your measurements with you though as it may not work against every height!

The bedside cot in Mothercare is $2550. It adjusts to various hights, and the dropside swings underneath. It also has lockable castors so you can roll itup next to the bed then move it away in the morning to put the side up. I'm considering getting this if I can't get an Arms Reach Cosleeper shipped to Hong Kong. Will also have to check out the bedside cot in Wing On.

For me I need to find a bedside cot that will align with a low bed (21 inches)
