i have a 6 years old daughter and i am 20 weeks on the way right now. i dont have any stretch marks at all... my secret is a little bit hard but it work for me! i don't believe any anti-stretch marks cream helps. My Secret: GLOVES. sounds unreal right? But honestly i recommend it to some of my friends and it totally work... all you have to do is wear a gloves all night, i know it sounds uncomfortable but you'll get use to it in a weeks time. My husband is very supportive even though he doesn't want me to hug him with my gloves on.. :-)
Do some Experiment:
1.)Get a Ballon and rub it with your hands and take out the air after,You will find like a stretch marks on your Ballon...
2.)Make a new Ballon and put air in it and don't rub it and take out the air and compare it to the first ballon. it will be sag but you won't find any marks at all.
I don't expect anybody to believe me but i just want to share a secret. No harm on trying... Good Luck!

Amari76, do they have special gloves for the stomach? ;)
I don't get the bit about the balloon either. Are you saying not to rub your stomach, and the gloves will prevent you touching your stomach?

I dont think so mrs miggins. i have a twin sister and she had 1 kid and didn't listen to my advice and now she have nasty stretch marks specially on her lower tummy.and regret it! i have 3 friends who listen and they thank me for that advice till now..as i said i don't expect anyone to believe me,but it's all up to you. There is no harm on trying rather than spend loads of money just to look for some creams that we're not really sure if it works.. don't you agree? Why waste money if you can save it to more important things. Where did i get that advice? From my mother who's 58 years old and had 8 kids, she had a old woman's tummy of course but we are lucky if we find 3 or more stretch marks on her. facinating but it's true! Just an advice..

I am sorry Amari76 - this sounds very interesting but I don't understand what you mean at all...gloves??? How does wearing gloves (you wear these on your hands) make any difference to the skin on your abdomen?

if you are pregnant or having monthly period i think your cells is reacting in different ways. i just noticed that when i had my first period,as i remember.. i can't help the itch on my butt side, side of the underarm and at the back of the knee. and i ask all my girlfriends and relatives and they also experience the same thing. i cannot explain it to you in a fact coz i am not a doctor. just want to help nothing...

and as i think it's also something to do with excess fats that we consume when we we're pregnant. i have a very fat friend but she don't have any stretch marks like what the doctor said that you can get stretch mark if you gain weight coz it stretch it,right? so how can they explain that? i also noticed a guy friend of mine who's overweight but he got stretch marks... Anyway just want to help nothing more!!!

Amari -
are you saying that wearing the gloves prevents you from rubbing your belly, which therby prevents the stretchmarks? Or are you saying that wearing the gloves magically removes any chance for the stretch marks.

And... what sort of gloves are they ...cotton, latex, woollen, tight, loose?

Look i don't mean anything by what i wrote. i am just giving examples and if i offend anybody in anyway.I'm Sorry! i just thought i can help but, i don't think i did..
Anyway just a small advice to someone who already a stretch mark. it's just advice from nobody.... maybe you should try to put a petrolium gelly before you sleep and wrap it on a Sarang or Reynolds Cling clear Wrap and leave it till morning, and after wash it with lite warm Tea. (any herbal tea will do. Do it in a week and see the difference.

Oh my - stretch marks are part of motherhood - they are your battle scars and war wounds - they are the marks that you have done something wonderful with your life. It is not the end of the world if you have them. I have had 4 babies and have a beautiful set of stretch marks. My husband doesn't love me any less for them and I still wear swimmers and go to the beach in public.
Would prefer to have stretch marks from pregnancy than obesity.

oh believe me i know that... and actually if this is the kind of person i am going to meet in this pregnancy site. Forget it! No offence but why are you bothering answering my advices if all you do is harrasing such a person who's just wants to help in some way to other mommy who wants advice how to get rid or prevent to have a stretch marks??? I hope your happy now that you had your point by embarrasing such a concern citizen... Anyway as i already said Believe me if you want to but please i don't need this kind of treatment... i thought this site is a site where you can find a friend and a site that pregnant woman can help each other by sharing opinion and experiences, well i am probably wrong! Amari -
no one is doubting your good intentions. It is, of course, the purpose of this site to promote relationships between women who are experiencing the same thing and get advice. I have met some great pen pals through this website through the exchange of ideas and comfort.
I think people are curious about why you are saying that GLOVES are the key to preventing stretch marks. I am very curious about your theory - I got them with my first pregnancy, didn't gain much weight, applied creams religiously - and I want to know what the connections are with gloves. Dermatologists have never mentioned the gloves factor - so it's hard to understand how it works. It sounds as if you are genetically predisposed to great skin (with your mother having all those children and having only three stretch marks.) But you haven't really explained it all that clearly about why you believe gloves to be so the key - so I think people are just wondering. You mentioned the balloon, but the connection to the gloves was not clear.
Don't be so upset - no one is criticizing or harassing you. I think people are just trying to understand what it is that you are proposing in terms of a solution to stretch marks.

I think you either get stretch marks or you don't. Nothing will stop it. And no offence but wearing gloves on your hands at night to stop stretch marks makes absolutely no sense at all.

There are many things that happen or that work and we have no answer to. You can decide to try it or not...the fact that it costs no money, but has given some people some good results (maybe the results would have been the same..who knows)makes it worth a try in my books. For those who dont want to frighten their husbands try some latex gloves, for those who want to frighten their husbands use the wooly mittens and sow them into the sleeves of your nighty. Joking aside, I'll have ago with it..might make bedtime a bit of fun

wooly mittens is a very good idea chinamiff.. i normally use a cotton gloves coz it's kinda lite. i am not sure with the latex gloves tho ;-) it's cold anyway so you wont really feel uncomfortable at night. as i said to some woman i don't expect anyone to believe me just a suggestion. by the way my theory is next to be discuss by the University of the Philippine or UST medical group and just need my MD relatives to back me up for this. i hope it will work for you chinamiff. Goodluck and God Bless!

I used Cocoa Butter - the stick from the Body Shop, looks a bit like a big deodorant stick.
Everyone I know who used it didn't get stretch marks. We are all not sure if it was the Cocoa Butter, but it wasn't an expensive experiment. Worth every cent. No stretch marks after 2 babies and my Mum had shockers.
