I'll be having our first baby next month, and am trying to think ahead of what to do about contraception (yes, it may be quite awhile before we even DO anything! ;)
I plan on nursing, so I'd like to get feedback and suggestions on what some of you out there have done. I was on the pill for ages before we started trying, and I don't know if that's such a good idea when I'm also nursing.
Thanks in advance.

Breastfeeding is not a safe method of contraception.
The Pill cannot be taken while breastfeeding.
That leaves Condoms.
Breastfeeding is not 'intuitive' the first few weeks, but it gets sooo much easier and better after that - do get the advice of a lactation consultant or midwife if you need help. Home visits are a great way to help with breastfeeding as they can see exactly what you are doing in your 'normal' environment and give you great advice.
Good luck!!

You can take the "micropill" which is safe for breastfeeding but it requires precision and timing in the taking of it. (you MUST take it at the same time every day or you will not be safe from ovulation.) Condoms are the best (from a woman's perspective, not the man's.)
you may not be in the mood for a while - especially breastfeeding. But you'll get there...
