Hi,
My friend is 34week pregnant and has been told by her doctor that she needs to have a caesarean because her baby is big and breach at this moment, that the baby would not turn. She wanted me to post this query and see what other people's experience is like. Is it not too early to decide on a caesarean at 34 weeks or is it reasonable? Has anyone had similar experience? She sees Dr. Eric Lee.

Babies can still turn until right at the end, I believe. I am now about to give birth and my baby turned during week 37.
I did however go and see Gianna Buonocore at the Integrated Medicine Institute (www.imi.com.hk) and had moxa treatment and acupuncture. I don't know whether this helped or not, but in the end the baby turned!

definitely depends on the case. If the baby is large, and not much amniotic fluid for him or her to float in, chances for turning are unlikely. I had a breech week 34, and my baby turned week 35 only to turn back again week 36 and then go vertex week 37. (my baby was very small however.) Dr. Lee may just be preparing your friend for the c-section if it comes to that. She probably has at 3 more weeks to wait before the go ahead happens...so she should tell Dr. Lee she's hoping for the baby to turn and at this stage she's going in every week anyways, just to ask for a quick ultrasound to see where the baby is.

Thanks bluesky and hkchoichoi. I think her baby is quite big, so that maybe why the doctor told her it's unlikely to turn. I will follow your advice and tell her to ask the doctor to check the position every week. And maybe moxa will do, I'll tell her that may help, too. Thanks for your advice!
