I have had three babes and the best ever maternity bra I used was (still is) the Elle Macpherson one. I know its expensive but its the only one that has gone the distance and still looks nice. I am usually a 12-14 DD Not pregnant. While feeding I am an F and upwards. I cant help you on where to buy them, only to affer advice because I am also big busted. Most maternity bras are not attractive especially when they are big sizes but Elles range is beautiful and very comfy.

Maternith/Nursing Bras

Been to Mothercare, Bumps To Babes, etc... and Marks and Spencers. Nothing I liked.

Where else can I shop in HK for maternity/nursing bras?

I don't want to spend a fortune, and would like something that looks semi-decent.

I heard about some shops in times square or causeway bay, but nothing specific.

Any ideas?

Any good online shops that deliver to HK?

Thank you

There is a store in Sogo (causeway bay)...on the children's level...not sure what floor that is...but directory should tell you. The bra and maternity clothes (though doesn't have much outer clothing...mostly under wear) shop is in the far corner from the escalator... I don't know if it's called Gennie's or if they sell Gennie's brand (not familiar with it) but they had some nice things there... No name above the space...just kind of a 'section' of the children's floor. I bought one there and had the rest shipped in from the States through friends.

Thanks - I'll try Sogo.

Is there a good site from USA or Canada or Australia (all cheaper than UK/GBP sites) that anyone can recommend?

The Elle McPhereson looks nice (and got a got a good review above and elsewhere). But I would like to compare more. Will check them out at Lane Crawford too (but afraid of the HK price!!)

I looked at Figleaves, but would like some other sites to compare.

Thanks

Lane Crawford do not sell maternity bra's. Obviously, pregnant women are not allowed to be fashionable.

Anyway- I have searched high and low in Hk but no luck , especially for decent, pretty and mainly cotton bra's. I resorted to buying Elle McPherson in the UK and I'm really pleased with the result. The lacy version is very lacy, but very comfortable and does not have these hideous horizontal cup seams that seem to be prevalent. The other Elle Mc. style is similar to a sports bra but feels very supportive , again without many seams. I personally found this one too restrictive and to my shoulders that when I put my arms in front of me they dug right in. It was also very synthetic in feel .Infact, this style was on sale so am presuming that noone else liked it either.

Hoping that soon, BTB or similar will expand their range to pretty aswell as functional.

Mrs Miggings i know what your going thru but i'm at the other end of the scale a AA going up but not a C cup which seems to be all there is. And i don't get why pregnant/nursing mums don't apparently want stylish bras and matching underwear it seems just because we are pregnant we don't care?! I'm in S'pore and i am finding less stylish maternity clothes/underwear here than HK. Maybe i just haven't looked enough. Anyway good luck.

Mrs. M - That place in Sogo (mentioned it above) measured me. Very helpful staff...at least the day I went. Not sure if the have the DD's, but you can definitely get measured.

Perth - I looked at many shops in Singapore too; nothing...mostly polyester too. It was surprising considering S'pore has a lot of great fashion when it comes to regular (non-maternity)clothing.

WOW!!

www.figleaves.com

Click on the Maternity link on the top of the page.

This site has a great selection and has FREE delivery to Hong Kong.

They currently offer a 10 GBP off coupon.

The UK site has some special offers now: free Elle McPhereson Panties when you order Elle McPhereson Maternity Bras, and free nursing pads when you buy Emma Jane Bras.

I compared prices to the USA site, and it was cheaper on the UK site (I know unusual!)

I got measured at M&S here in Hong Kong, and ordered form FigLeaves... Delivery 5-10 days. Free return policy too (Only pay for the delivery from HK back to UK)

Do you know any other shops in USA or UK or Canada or Australia that offer FREE SHIPPING?? This is the first one I have ever seen.

Mummy - exactly, they have lace and actually look good (in the photos, still waiting for mine!)

It is hard to believe in 2005, there is only one brand of nursing bras that have lace and look sexy! I just hope they enhance the cleavage too :)

I got the Emma Jane sleeping/nursing bra - because they looked really comfortable for sleepingh, and I think I am close to needing that some nights already :(

If it is not comfy when I try it on, I can return it - they have a good return policy.

On Nursing Pads...

I remember reading on another thread... (can't remember which)... where someone suggested using pantyliners as nursing pads - they said they were self-adhesive, she cut them to size, and they were disposable. I remember the comment because it seemed odd enough to be a really great idea!

From a clinical point of view... the reason why it is difficult to get bras with lace and prettier cuts is that the lace and way the bra is cut can actually block of small ducts and lead to blocked ducts and mastitis. Unfortunately many women suffer from plugged ducts and it is quite often the bra that is causing the issue.

I know they are not that pretty, but do make sure that they are supportive and comfortable.

In Australia a few years back, a maternity bra was put on the market that actually fastened toward the inside of the cup (hard to explain). They were very pretty and seemed (at the time)to be very practical. My friends and I (all nursing midwives!)rushed out to buy the new sexy bra and we all got bouts of mastitis around the clasp area.

Sorry to be so practical, but be aware because plugged ducts are not fun.

I agree with mummy on the Pigeon breast pads, cutting pantyliners seems a waste of time when there a specific products on the market.

From my personal point of view (It seems I have been breast feeding for the greater part of the past 8 years!)- A German bra www.ANITA.com plain but practical and sturdy. My Emma Jane bra did not make it to the delivery of the baby, the lace was pretty but once I started to undo it to feed it fell apart in a matter of days.

OK just looked at the Anita website and realized it is in German - this may not be helpful if English is your only language!

I got mine in HK from a company called Attitudes and they were in Hollywood road I think. Not sure if they are still around as I got mine 18 months ago and they are still going strong!

May have sent you on a wild goose chase - sorry.

Thank you for explaining why there are not more nice sexy lacey maternity bras.

The elle macphereson maternity and nursing bras have had excellent reviews on this and other sites. It seems they have solved those problems, or they wouldn't be so popular.

The pantyliner comment was from another user - I was just repeating it because I remembered it from that forum.

I will look for Pigeon brand in HK.

The Emma Jane I ordered does not have lace - it is a boring white (and black) comfortable looking maternity/nursing bra designed for sleeping. I don't think lace is good for sleeping, so I ordered this for night time wear.

On lace bras... there are not many good things about being pregnant - sick, tired, cramps, sore breasts, getting fat, etc... one of the good aspects is once your breasts are not sore, you have great cleavage to show off - and I for one am looking forward to wearing at least one item of clothing that fits correctly, is comfortable and makes me feel good!

Maybe I will change later, but for now, while still pregnant, I can't wait for my Elle MacPh lacey bras to show up!!
