I hear most of the famous doctors in HK will push you to have a C-section (I guess they make more money and/or can get home faster).

Any good doctors who don't?

I was with Dr Choy and although we moved to S'pore before the delivery we did talk about delivery and she didn't push C-Section. But as i said this was jsut discussion but my experience with her was very positive and she really listened to what we wanted and we never felt as if we were pushed into anything.

Dr Robert Dawkins is your man, I asked if I needed a c Section at the first appt as I had other problems and he reassured me that he only did them in emergencies and also have heard this from other people. Apart from that he is very laid back and so reassuring, I had a few problems and every time I spoke to him he put my mind at ease. If I am lucky enough to get pregnant again I will definatley use him! Good luck

I was with Dr. Choy and she is great. From the beginning I thought more about a c-section myself but she was the one even pushing for normal delivery. Until the end she wanted to try as she is convinced this should always be first choice.

Apart from that she excellent. Very professional and very very nice and patient. She takes a lot of time for each consultation and really knows you very well after a while. She is available 24 hours and will answer every single question. I gave birth in Adventist Hospital and she took great care of me and came every day to see me. And another great thing: she has 4D Ultrasound. It is simply amazing seeing your baby like this.

Also the postnatal care is excellent.

I will always highly recommend her to everybody.

Good luck to you !

I can vouch for Dr Choy as well - i'm only earlish stages but any discussion on birth has been that vaginal is preferential unless there is a reason for a c section. Dr Choy is also a great doctor - very nice and friendly and responsive to questions and highly skilled - I feel very comfortable with her.

Thanks Perthites!

I've been reading threads posted earlier discussing on good Dr in HK. I am seeing Dr. Macor Wan. Can't say he is not good... In fact I have no doubt he is v. experienced and has all the high-tech equipment at the clinic. But every time I just manage to spend a few min in his office and quickly got directed to another room for scanning. It operates like a factory in there! Maybe I don't have a clear idea what I should ask during each visit, and maybe coz there isn't complications so far... but should I expect the doctor to tell me more and more patience from him? Afterall I'm paying at least $900 per visit... Any opinions?

I had Dr Lucy Lord, and chose her because she's a complete feminist, she's not warm and fuzzy, but she's an excellent doctor and she was very willing to let me have the labor and delivery I wanted...so long as it was safe. As luck would have it, my labor ended out being VERY long, but I really really didn't want a section and as baby seemed to be doing just fine, she let me continue.

So, I can say with confidence that Lucy won't push you to have a section :-)
