I am based in Hong Kong and am wanting to have my first child. Can anyone recommend Medical Insurance? My husband and I are covered for general medical with his work but not for pregnancy. Is cover expensive/ worth doing, if so any sugesstions of Insurance companies? or is the public system ok or a mixture or public and private?
Also I currently have Implanon contraceptive is anyone familiar with a doctor in HK that I could see about removal. I had it inserted in Australia and am yet to visit any doctors in Hong kong. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Kwiksure (Christian above) is great, be sure to ask about Allianz as they do cover full maternity costs in Hong Kong.
YES it is worth getting, the cost here is very high if you go private. For example, our vaginal delivery at Matilda, private room, was over 100,000 HKD and on top of this are all the doctor visits, scans, vaccinations, etc... Allianz covered it all!
Our pilicy from Allianz was less than 20k per year, so the value is great!
Saying that, the public system is of a very high standard medically, you just won't get the 'personal high level service' as you would in private.
Good luck!

In government hospitals in HK the cost is the same for permanent ID card holders and non-permanent ones. SO if you have only just arrived in HK, you will still get the same low rates (hundreds, not thousands).
