Landlord has done a runner / gone missing

Please , please can anyone help. My landlord has done a runner/ dissapeared . His phone ( work and mobile ) are disconnected ) his home number rings out unanswered. I have sent letters to his last known address and he has not answered.

My father is very sick and I urgently need to relocate out of hk as quickly as possible.

I want to hand over the appartment and get my deposit back but cannot do this as I cannot find him.The Realty agent is being usless and the Management office for the appartment block has no idea where he can be.

My lease is due to finish mid July . May rent has already been paid in full by direct debit and I can stop June's DD but this would only save me one month of my deposit.

In addition I have a friend who would like to take over the appartment subject to the new rent not being crazy.I would ideally like to transfer the lease over to them and leave Hk immediatley but, again cannot do this as I cannot find the landlord.


Help help - from a legal point of view where do I stand and how do I get everything sorted . Also any ideas how to find the landlord?

Your LL will be in touch when the June rent doesn't get paid....


And then he will want someone else in there asap so your friend and you can prob sort out the deposit between you, provided the LL doesn't ask for a silly price - mine decided to DOUBLE our rent!
