Hi Perthites

howz your appointment with Dr. I think my thoughts are so full of pregnancy & babies and may be i want to try every thing. Do you have any idea about acupuncture, how it works and do you need the appointment on same pattern as you need with Dr. i mean starting from day two of your period. Any detail and help would be appreciated from all of you thanks

Tillu, here are the details:

Troy Sing

suite 1001 Winway Building

50 Wellington Street

Central

2526-7908

His office is right next to Yung Kee restaurant. He was trained in Australia and speaks excellent English. You don't even need to brew the medicine. It comes in powder form and you mix it with hot water. He explains things very well, unlike most Chinese doctors. I highly recommend Troy.

crystal, I didn't do Chinese herbs with Lynn because I felt that she specialises more in naturopathy with western herbs.

Hi VVV, thanks for the info. How long did you see him and take his medicine before getting preggy? It sounds good if the chinese doc can speak english. I've tried acupuncture for about 4 months - 2x/week but i still failed with my IVF, so i was thinking it's not for me. How much is his charge every visit? Thank you. Appreciate your help.

Hi Tillu my appointment went really well i love Dr Choy, i mean i felt 100 times better after seeing her. She's just so helpful and positive gives you strengh to go on! We are monitoring my ovulation with no drugs, i will have an ultra sound and blood test on day 12. If Dr Choy thinks i need help ovulation then i get some drugs for that otherwise it's arlar natural! She upped my meds for PCO so we get to have a good go at it and it's not costing as much (darn tax means not much money!) I have never tried alternative medicine so can't comment it's not that i'm not open to it it's just more money along with the regular expenses.Let me know how you go with it Tillu and all the best.

crystal,

I pay about $550, I think, for about an hour. I bought the package of 10 treatment.

I only saw him for 1.5 months before getting pregnant! I also used the clearplan fertility monitor as my cycles are long and sometimes I don't ovulate.

thanks vvv, the price is reasonable. You mean, 10 treatments total is $550. Or everytime you go, it's $550?

Hi vvv, read your post on the other thread, understood it, $550 per session as it's a package. Thanks. Will call him later.

vvv Can i ask how long you were trying to get pregnant before going to see her and did you have any particular "problems"?. Just rying to see if it might help with my PCO

I have PCO like you. I have irregular period and don't ovulate every cycle. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can help regulate the cycle. My body is also considered "cold" and those herbs helped to give me the "heat" necessary to ovulate. There is also a book that is very good: The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis.

Wow thanks for sharing that. Those of us who have "issues" can put a little more hope in trying this as it's proven it works. Thanks so much.

Hi vvv, are the herbs he's giving good for how many days/weeks? how often is your acupuncture? is it included in the $550 package?

I'm still thinking whether to try lynn lim or your doc. So far, nobody has replied about lynn on fertility issues that has succeeded. I'm not so familiar too with western herbs. Thanks a lot.

The herbs are usually good until your next appointment. I did acupuncture once every 5 days or a week. That's before ovulation. After ovulation, I saw him 7-8 days post ovulation.

The $550 is for each session and includes the acupuncture. The herbs are extra and is usually about $150-$180. The herbs usually last 5 days to a week.

The needles don't hurt at all, just a prick. Give him a call!

Hello vvv, sorry for my questions, one more pls. Just didn't understand how often do you see him in a month? i read that you see him between CD5-8, then, you go back again on 7-8 DPO for acu. How often is the acupuncture in a month? twice? one during CD5-8 and one during 7-8 DPO. For the herbs, i have to buy once a week,it's continous taking everyday? that's $150-180 per week? Correct me if i'm wrong, thanks a lot.

Hi vvv, congratulation on your pregnancy! and thanks very much for sharing with us your info. I am currently also having acupuncture treatment together with herbal tea. ( with another Dr. in Central )I'm planning to start my IVF in June with Dr Philip Ho. I have done 4 IUI previously with another Dr but all failed. Very depressing!! But I won't give up...I've just tried the acupuncture beginning of March. Just wondering, how your Dr normally do? Where does he put the needles? I have mine mainly along my spine, behind my neck and some on my calves. My herbal tea is also powder and is given week by week...

crystal, my cycle is usually long. Sometimes I ovulate on Day 20, 25 or even 30. Therefore, I may see him 3-5 times before ovulation. For my last cycle that succeeded, I saw him 3 times before ovulation and once after ovulation. I took the herbs everyday for almost 1.5 months.

bigmama, keep up the positive spirit! One day, your dream will come true. As for the position of the needles, I think it depends on your conditions and what the doctor is trying to correct. For me, it's usually one at the top of my head, few on my tummy area (near the ovaries), wrist, elbow, near the knee, ankle and feet. There were times I had needles on back of my neck and also the back. Did your doctor tell you to avoid certain food? Mine didn't but based on the book that I read, I avoided certain food for my condition. You can try reading "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis.

Hi vvv, thank you for your kind words..real appreciate. About food, no, my Dr didn't tell me to avoid anything. But she advised me not to take her herbal tea on my 1st & 2nd day of my period. I'll check the bookstore on the book you advised. Thanks again.

Tillu, don't give up on Troy. You can tell them to put you on the waitlist in case of cancellation. I know he is usually very full, sometimes the wait is only about a week.

Hi Tillu, mine is Dr Helen He of The Holistic Healthcare Practice ( same clinic with Dr Susan Jamieson at Hing Wai Building next to Body Shop in Central ). She's originally from Beijing.. been to Hk over 10 years...very well trained and speaks English fluently. I think she's also quite fully booked as she teaches at the HK University and only comes to the clinic every Tues & Thurs. but call and check..like Troy Sing it'll be max. a week wait or less. Tel 2523 8490/2523 8360. Good luck.

Hi All,

We all seem to be in the same position and getting desperate should I say. I too was initially diagnosed with PCOS and gone through IUI/Clomid/Injections and now onto chinese meds and accupuncture as well. However the Accupucturist says that I dont seem to be having much of a probelm and this month I ovulated myself without any meds what so ever. My husbands sperm motility is around 18-25% and wondering if that's the problem. The problem is none of the Drs mention it as a problem directly and so hubby thinks the problem lies with me. My Accupuncturist though says that Drs dont talk about male problems directly as it's got to do with their ego and all that. I am utterly confused and wondering what to do. Just got Proxeed from the Womens Clinic and hope it helps. Its not a matter of where the problem lies as long as we are blessed with a baby. Its really great to have you all out there. So many who know what you feel and what you are going through.

AC1234, will your husband see your acupuncturist too? My husband also went through acupuncture and Chinese herbs, and I think that helped.

Hi vvv, your husband also had it with Troy? same time as yours 1 1/2 month? I wonder whether i can drag my husband to try acupuncture ;-(

crystal, my husband saw Troy around the same time. If your husband does not have any issues, then he may not need to see Troy. My husband enjoys the session because it's like a nap to him in the middle of the day!

Hi VVV, unfortunately my husband doesnt want to come for accupuncture. Now I am worried that he might not want to take the chinese meds too as he has already started proxeed. This is really driving me nuts....

Hi AC1234, my husband will take anything that i buy, but i doubt if i can convinced him with acu.....but like VVV said, maybe he will like the session too, as long as it's not painful for him. I believe that the two of us should do our part, hhhmmmm, have to talk with him one of these days. Thanks.

Hello,

I tried unsucessfully for 4 years to get pregnant. A friend recommended Dr Lynn Lim and after seeing her for 4 - 5 months, I am now 11 weeks pregnant! She is great and helped me cure other allergies during those months too.
