I was exactly the same with both pregnancies, except I felt nauseous all the time and the only thing that made the nausea better was eating. I craved hot chips everyday .... could not eat enough greasy fatty hot chips but also ate good things like fruit, vegetables etc. So with the first pregnancy I ended up putting on 10kg in the first half which was way over the recommended weight gain. My appetite was voracious for the whole 9 months - the only thing I could do was make sure I exercised everyday and I managed to only put on another 7 kgs in the second half of the pregnancy. But 17kgs is still over what the reccomendations are... but within the first 2 weeks I had dropped 10kgs - also as soon as the baby was born my appetite returned to normal and I lost the last 7 kgs quite easily. I am still on second pregnancy and have been trying not to put on so much in the first half but am finding it impossible as the appetite monster is back and I cannot stop eating.... so again I have to exercise everyday to try and keep the weight gain in check... lots of swimming and walking... Anyway, I totally understand how you are feeling so just hang in there and rest assured your appetite will return to normal.... BUT not for a while!!! Different things work for different people so maybe exercise will help you or maybe you will find something else to help you.

I find I'm off meat (esp chicken and pork - too dry). So I'm eating eggs, crayfish (yum) mushrooms, pomfret (dont seem to like any other fish, although I loved em all before).
I know someone who got accidentally pregnant, and didnt know any of the to dos or not to dos. She then proceeded to eat all the burgers and processed meat (luncheon, sausages, etc etc) she could lay her hands on cause nobody told her. At 3.5 months she looked 5 months and now she's 5 she's really quite large and has bad swelling. She is rapidly adjusting her diet to eat healthy, and I hope she can reverse some of the effects, better late than never.

Forgot to mention that while my appetite was huge after the first trimester I stopped craving bad things like Hot Chips and MacDondalds - turned to chocolate instead....
I thought Crayfish were risky? Especially local ones... I thought pretty much any crustaceans were not reccomended?

I've only been told to not eat crabs. The pregnancy advice I've been reading says that seafood like prawns, crayfish, mussels are a great source of protein provided they are well cooked - and if you are wary of the mercury in fish. I try to get the Omega 3 and 6ss from walnuts and flaxseeds, cause I'm off fish, by and large.

I hope I'm not raining on your parade but somebody has to come forth and say they gained too much weight and it did NOT come off right away. I gained 44 lbs with my second and after 6 months of exclusive bf'ing I was still up 12 lbs above my normal weight. I really had to work my butt off in the gym (literally!) to get back into my old clothes. So I know you're all having cravings, but don't go hog wild and give in to all of them. Make healthy choices and exercise and you should be fine. 300 extra calories a day really is not much.
