I don't want to breastfeed my baby- for personal reasons.
I would like to know the name of the medication that they'll give me at the hospital (Matilda) in order not to get milk. I've heard that it can make you depressed. Is that true ?
I would like to know a little bit more about this pill.
Thank you for sharing your experience.

I thought the same as TC. Maybe you can ask your doctor or midwife.
But beware, breastfeed or not, your milk will come in and you will be engorged for about 24-48 hours. This usually happens 3-5 days after birth. this is really painful, so be sure to have some pain killers on hand. It often happens at home, so get some from your doctor before you leave hospital.
Good luck with your birth!

There is medication, cannot remember the name, but it is banned in many parts of the world. That would be enough to turn me off. Agree with above posters, just get some painkillers (and breast pads).

I think you are refering to bromacriptine. This was given once to prevent milk production for mothers choosing not to BF. mrsl is correct it has been banned in many countries and not used anymore, I last remember administering to mid patients post natally in 1986 in Australia,(that was in our hospital) and haven't seen it since.

I agree with all the previous posts, tough it out, your breasts are intelligent organs and will get the message.

I expressed milk with my son for the first two weeks and then gave up breastfeeding. I did'nt have any particular pain and my milk just dried up very quickly.
Cabbage leaves worked very well when breasts were sore.
Good Luck, and it is nice to hear that not everyone breast feeds, always felt like a bit of a weirdo because I did'nt want to.
