Hi, everyone. Hope everyone is doing well--or at least managing as best as possible through the rollercoaster rides that are TTC and pregnancy!
A question for those who have already gone through pregnancies in HK: what types of classes, if any, do you suggest I (and my husband?) take, and which ones in particular do you recommend?
Three areas I know I need to learn more about are: 1) how best to get through labor 2) how to take care of a newborn and 3) basic first aid/emergency medicine (It's been a long time since I learned how to do CPR back in Girl Scouts!)...but, as I said, very interested in any/all suggestions.
Would also love to hear your thoughts on when (which month) is the right time to take various classes. Thanks!

Can't say enough about Annerly midwife prenatal classes. I loved them - my husband and I opted for private sessions, because of my husband's schedule and it was great for us. (private times are a bit more flexible, but also a bit more unpredictable...but still very good.) The first sessions we did at the center and they covered your #1 question. She helped me really understand the different forms of pain relief, and upon hearing my desire to have an all natural birth, she told me what I could expect from things pain wise, when it would hurt the most and what my husband could do to really help me through the pain of labor since I decided I didn't want any pain. Her advice to me was concise (because she says you wont' remember much) and the advice to my husband more detailed and more about getting him to understand MY pain and how to get me through it. Massage pointers, accupressure tips and teaching HIM how to teach ME to breathe so I wouldn't panic. Then the last session #2 she came home after baby was born and taught me first hand ON the baby. It was great. My mom was there too and found Hulda fantastic.
I would also definitely get some home visits post partum. It's just great to talk to someone who will just understand what you're going through, reassure you that all things are going well. If you ever have any breastfeeding issues (I had a minor one) having someone there who can figure it out for you immediately is awesome. My daughter was curling her bottom lip under and it was causing immense discomfort and she got her to latch on properly and after 3 tries, she was raring to go in proper form and I stopped screaming pain while breastfeeding.
