We are new here in HK. Living in Sai Kung. Just found out that I am pregnant. Very happy! But where to find a good, reliable dokter or hospital. Anybody experience with doktors or hospitals closer to Sai Kung? Or did you still chose to go to town? We don't have an insurance, so we will go public. Any recommendations? Please???

If you go public, you cannot choose your doctor. Just register with the nearest government hospital (probably Tseung Kwan O):

If you choose to go public, you have no choice over qualities such as "good" or "reliable" ... you will find some excellent doctors in the public service, but the system is not well appreciated due to abysmal communication skills (not the language - that is fine - I mean the patient management skills) and you will get a different doctor each time. There will be zero understanding for alternative or natural medicine - you take what you are given, often in a few minutes of consultation.
I do not know about you, but that would not fit my definition of medical good practice. But if that is what you choose based on price, you will get what you pay for. Some would opt for such a system for routine stuff, but choose a good doctor for serious consultations.

I just went for my first check-up at Tsan Yuk (HK Island - Government). I was very pleasantly surprised. With my first baby the doctors were generally rude and/or clueless. This time I saw a proper doctor with 2 medical students - the doctor asked first if I was ok with that, then checked I was ok with them examining me, they were very polite, the doctor was polite and friendly - all much better than before. Of course I had to wait for hours, but I expected that.
